Karl POV:
Sapnap and I walked back to the house to tell the others we were going to look for Quackity. I still was terrified that we wouldn't find him, or we would just find his dead body since I did hear a gunshot right after the gates went back up. But I didn't know. Nobody did.
"Wanna ask the others if they want to come with us to look for him?" Sapnap Asked, looking at me trying to make eye contact. "Sure." I replied, avoiding his gaze.
We walked into the house, only Dream and George reside. "Hey Dream?" Sapnap called. Dream lifted his head to look at him. "Wanna come with us to find Quackity? We leave in an hour and we only have an hour to find him. So, wanna come?"
"And what makes you think you're gonna find him? I know you heard the gunshot Sap, I know you did. He probably got bit and was turning, one of the guards must have shot him to put him out of his misery." Dream said with an empty look upon his face.
I hung my head. He had a point was was probably right. Q was probably dead, and I never got to say goodbye.
"Shut up. I don't care if your sad that George hasn't woken up in almost a week, this isn't your place to bring him down. Karl lost his best friend and you're just bringing him down even more than he already is. Honestly Dream, I thought better of you. What would Drista think?" Sapnap snapped at him.
I didn't know who this Drista person was, but that apparently made Dream pay more attention.
"Do not bring her into this!" Dream yelled. "I will if I want. What would she think of this Dream. What would your sister say?" Sapnap yelled back.
She was his sister. That makes sense.
"Fine!" Dream threw his hands in the air, "I'll go and help you find Quackity."
"Dream you don't have to, really I don't care if you do, I just want closure." I said, trying to
deescalate the situation.
"Karl, it's fine. I'm going to help you find him. I'm just upset right now and probably sleep deprived. But I'm going to help you with finding Q." Dream said as he stood up, putting his hand on my shoulder and giving me a weak smile."You really don't have to. After what just hap-" I tried to say before being cut off by the smiling man before me. "It's fine Karl. How long do we have until we're supposed to be at the gate?" He asked.
"At this point? Maybe thirty-five to forty minutes." Sapnap replied. Dream nodding and sat right back down with George. God I hope he wakes up soon.
Those thirty-five to forty minutes pass by and the three of us now stood at the gate, watching it be loudly opened.
"You ready?" Sapnap Asked me. I nodded and walked out of L'Manburg. Within twenty four hours I had forgotten what the outside had looked like. It was all so dead.
I started walking around, moving piles of fallen leaves out of my way to see if I could find a body, something. Dre searched further into the woods and Sapnap near the wall.
Several minutes go by and nothing. No body, no trace of anyone being here but painful memories. I let out a long sigh and rubbed my eyes. He was gone. He turned into a zombie and walked off didn't he.
"Hey!" I heard Sapnap call out. I jerked my head around to see him jogging towards me.
"I found something." He said as he handed me what looked to be a drivers license.
Jay Schlatt was the name printed on it. "Maybe this is the person who shot the gun?" Sapnap questioned. I didn't know. I just hopped that if it was him, that he didn't shoot Q.
"Guys! We have a problem!" Dream yelled.
A board of zombies were running in our direction, shit. We were a good two-hundred yards away from the gate. So we started sprinting. But so did they.
Something apocalypse based movies also didn't inform you was that apparently when you're dead you can just run really fast. Like probably faster than a cheetah or something. I was sprinting, Sapnap by my side and Dream right in from of us.
Suddenly Dream get tackled by one of the dead and starts to fight it. I didn't see much of the fight itself, nor did I pay much attention to it, I just kept running.
About seventy yards away from the gate now and Dream is back up and running. I turned my head to see how far back he was, but I turned to fast and tripped. I fell weirdly and now my ankle hurt like hell.
Sapnap just picked me up and started running. Dream yelling at us from behind, "run! Run!"
We, or Dream and Sapnap at this point, made it to the gate before it was dropped shut.
We were all out of breath and panting. "How're you Karl, you tumbled and looked like you did something to your ankle?" Dream Asked. Sapnap turned to look at Dream so I could to.
"Dude what happened to your face?" Sapnap Asked, practically screeching.
He was right. Dream had a giant gash on his face going from the top of his eyebrow to the beige if his nose, all the was to his left cheek on his face.
He had been scratched by the zombie that attack him. We were all doomed.
