Sapnap POV
Karl had gotten so much worse. His memory faded as soon as you had told him his name at this point. I could barely keep it together around him.
He currently sat on his bed, flipping through a journal of memories I had written down from my own about stories he told about Quackity and his family. Knowing that they were gone was the easiest part about letting Karl remember them. So he didn't have to dread about putting a face to the name or seeing them walking about.
I pained me to have to tell the others just to lie to him. But I knew that he would be in much more pain if they all told him stories from the memory he no longer held.
"Who's candle girl?" He asked curiously, looking up from the book at me. " it was a girl who worked at a candle store that your had a crush on." I replied. Karl nodded.
"Can I ask you something..." he trailed off, squinting his eyes as he usually did when he tried to remember something.
"Sapnap." "Sapnap, Yes, Sorry." He said, ruffling his hair. "It's okay." I smiled, trying to keep him calm.
"Is everybody lying?" He asked. "I just don't feel like they're saying the truth when they say that they've never met me before? I just want to know. You don't have to reply if you don't want to it's fine." His voice trail off at the end. I didn't know what to say to him.
Do I tell him that I told everybody to lie to keep him from feeling horrible.
Or do I tell him that they're just weird like that all the time.
I couldn't decide. "They're not lying Karl. Just being weird. They're like that all the time. Don't worry you'll get used to it." I felt horrible for lying to him one more, but I had to.
He would break if he heard the real news. He just nodded again in response and turned back to his book.
We sat in silence before he walked trough the doorway.
"Hello Sapnap, Karl. Long time no see." Dream said, not moving away from where he stood under the door frame.
"Go away Dream. Or I'll shoot you." I said, pulling out a small hand gun from my bag. "You would never shoot me Sappy. We made a pact, remember. That we would never hurt each other during this apocalypse."
"You already broke that pact. You broke it when you ran after Tommy's death. You weren't there when we had to burry George. You won't there when Karl started losing his memory. You weren't there for me. Dream, you left and never came back. You hurt me and I'll never forgive you for that. So just let me shoot you." I yelled, fighting the tears in my eyes that threatened to spill."But you'll never do it Sap. Just hand me the gun." He said calmly, trying to persuade me to give into whatever he was trying to do.
"No." I stomped my foot against the ground. Dream said nothing, he just walked over to a very confused Karl and grabbed him, putting him in a chokehold.
"Dream no." I said. Nothing.
"Dream stop." Nothing
"Dream. Please!" He just smiled at me.Karl looked terrified. "Help" he choked, "Please"
I wanted to, but my body wouldn't let me.
Karl reached out to me trying to call out to me, trying to get my attention, trying to get me to help him before he ran out of air.
And I did nothing. I stood there and watched the man I loved die in the arms of the man I once called my best friend, my brother.
Dream dropped Karl's lifeless corpse and held out his hand. "Just hand over the gun Sap. You could've shot me but you didn't. You know that you don't have the balls to kill me. So let me kill you." I shook my head.
"Think about it. You'll get to see everyone again. In heaven. You'll see all of them. Karl, Quackity, Tommy, George, Ranboo, Tubbo, and Michael. Wouldn't you like to see them again?" With those words I let the gun slowly slip from my grasp and fall of the ground.
Dream picked it and and cocked it. "Thank you so much Sap. I really appreciate having you here, as a friend, and as a brother. Goodbye." Was the last thing I had ever heard before letting the bullet take my life.
I can't wait to see you all again.
