It's silent.
All you hear is the grandfather clock ticking away next to you.
You wring your hands in your lap, eyes focused on your soaked socks.
"Here, child." A hot cup of tea enters your vision and you gratefully accept it with shaking hands. "We always seem to meet when you are writhing with hypothermia. " Gaster chides, sweeping up his robes to take a seat in the armchair next to you. He holds his own tea set.
It was just you and this newly corporeal man. Red had quickly left your side the moment you were safely next to Gaster. You're not sure how the two knew each other or why Red was so seemingly quick to trust the scientist. Either way it left you in a quiet and warm home with an equally warm and quiet man.
"You always warm me up." You joke, shrugging. So far Gaster seemed to always be there for you, no matter how briefly the two of you knew each other. You sip on the tea and smile. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me." He says, his smile turning tight. "I feel the need to apologize." He lowers his cup, hand going to worry at the scar running down half of his face. You follow his lead, also lowering your cup. "I had known about the intentions of the SwapFell brothers, yet I had believed they'd keep their promise with me. That was a foolish hope." He sighs and bows his head.
You blink.
"Um...? Apology accepted?" Gaster peeks at you and then frowns.
"You don't know what I'm speaking of." He states and you shrug. "Then why accept an apology-" he cuts himself off with a twisted sigh. "Let me explain-"
"DOCTOR!" A familiar voice shouts. The sliding doors on the other side of the living room rattle before they slam open. "I HAVE MY REPORT- OH, A HUMAN!"
A Sans runs into the room, sliding to a stop in front of you. He looks excited as he bounces, grin wide and cheek bones blue. This was the first alternate Sans you had met, though briefly. You had been too distracted last time to really acknowledge him other than to successfully avoid him. He was roughly the same height as your Sans, which meant he was your height, if not a touch shorter. This Sans looked and bounced a lot like how you remembered your Papyrus, back in the Underground.
Over the skeletons shoulder you notice Gaster running a hand down his face.
"WHY DID YOU NOT INFORM ME THAT YOU HAD A GUEST?" Sans asks, eye lights blown in his sockets from his excitement. His blue boots squeak on the floor as he briefly turns to look at Gaster.
"There was no reason-" Gaster starts.
"WAIT, I REMEMBER YOU!" Sans blurts, quickly interrupting Gaster as he turns back on you. "YOU'RE THE HUMAN THAT WAS WITH THE SMALL HUMAN!" You nod along, remembering the sweet Chara you had briefly traveled with. "YOU MUST HAVE FOLLOWED ME!" He proudly sets a gloved hand to his chest, his "armor" shifting. There was a lot of space between his chest and breastplate. It looked like he wore a bigger piece just to make him look bigger.
"I... what?" You ask. You were so lost.
"YOU FOLLOWED ME BECAUSE YOU SAW HOW COOL I AM." His face was a bright blue as he proclaimed that. You glanced from him to Gaster, looking for help. You weren't sure how to handle this skeleton and what exactly you could say around him.
Before Gaster can save you though, you watch another skeleton storm into the living room.
"would ya shut it!?" Red growls, coming over to glare at the other Sans. "I can hear ya yappin' from across the house! I'm tryna sleep!"
