It was around ten when everyone finally gathered.

Stretch and Red were still nursing cups of coffee, or at least that's what you assumed they had. Cash, on the other hand, definitely did not have coffee in his mug. When you watched him pour the flask in he simply held a finger to his teeth to keep you quiet. You almost spitefully went and tattled to Black.

You had taken the early morning to go through what few things you had brought with you. You had unpacked it all a while ago, but the room still looked the same from when you first got there. You had refused to bring any memorabilia from your old room that you didn't actually remember. Which left you only with a few books and an old necklace from your mother you refused to wear. Clothes-wise you had brought half of your closet, which in all reality wasn't a lot either. Most of it you went through to pull anything else that didn't fit. It reminded you of your last talk with Gaster.

He had mentioned your age - or really lack-there-of. You really needed to bring that up at some point. Losing your memories, sure, made sense. Losing, physically, ten years as well? It obviously was another weird thing to do with your self-created soul, but chalking it up to "soul stuff" wasn't any less stressful. Or made any more sense to you.

Something else that didn't make sense were the groups Gaster had planned out for today's trip.

He approached you early on, when you were the only one in the kitchen, making yourself a cup of coffee. You weren't the first one awake, as you knew Blue and Papyrus had their usual run together early on. You aso knew Edge went out by himself, as well as Black.

"Good morning, child." He greeted, setting his hand on your arm as he reached for a mug. He had a wiry set of reading glasses balanced on his nose ridge and another brightly colored cardigan over a white button up. This one was violet.

"Morning." You chirp back, already pretty awake since you'd gone through all your things.

"I wanted to run through the groups for today." He said somewhat off handedly as he focused on the coffee machine.

"Shoot." You prompt.

"I have decided Black and Cash will head out with Sans. Marsh and Cinnamon will go with Papyrus and I will take Stretch and Blue. Which leaves Edge and Red to you." Gaster says without looking up at you.

The list was surprising, to say the least. You had expected Gaster to go with Black and Cash or Marsh and Cinnamon. Maybe even Red and Edge. Those three groups seemed the most likely to cause problems, as the ones least accustomed to how the surface worked compared to their Underground's. Everyone seemed to respect Gaster, or at the very least be weary of him. Why? You weren't sure. It might be because they were here because of his machine. Maybe it was a monster thing involving magic. It definitely wasn't as simple as he was the oldest and had a doctorate.

You also weren't too sure about the pairing of Black and Cash with Sans. You felt that if Black was going to go off the rails he'd easily overpower Sans. That or Sans would accidentally fall asleep and the two would sneak off during his watch. Maybe that was mean of you to assume he couldn't handle it. However, you'd only ever seen Sans sleep and make puns. Putting him with the skeleton that tried to "playfully" kill you didn't seem like a fair match up. In your opinion, Gaster should take those two and Stretch and Blue should go with Sans. Or with you.

It seemed the only match up that made sense to you was Papyrus, Marsh, and Cinna. The only thing that would've made more sense is if those two went with you. You weren't sure how Marsh would react to the surface, especially other humans. However you were pretty sure you knew the reaction Cinna was going to have. You couldn't imagine a moment where Marsh would ruin something like this for his younger brother. You also couldn't imagine Marsh trying anything that would upset Papyrus, who looked so much like the brother Marsh remembered. Maybe, if anything, it was a little mean to put Marsh and Papyrus in a group together.
