Odessa Alvaradez doesn't know why she had decided to help the girl. Perhaps it was the girl's forlorn face, tugging at the seams of her supposedly-frozen heart. Or maybe it was the fact that one glance at her and her heart melted, invisible strings pulling her like a puppet to be her hero, to quickly erase the heartbreaking pout that had taken over her face.

She can't figure out why she couldn't keep her mind off the girl with hair as red as the most beautiful poppies, eyes as gold as the reflection of the sun, and her pale creamy skin dotted with multiple freckles.

The Boss had never been the type of woman to have many distractions. That was why, right now, her workers are wondering what has captured the boss's mind.

Circling the glass of whiskey in her hand, she stares into the amber liquid, the color seemingly similar to the captivating color of the girl's eyes. The eyes of the girl that have been bouncing all over her mind lately. She remembers the deep blush that had overtaken her face as she looked at Odessa and chuckles.

The longer her mind ponders over the girl, the more she realizes what's happening. She shouldn't, she'll just leave her even more cracked than she already is.

Odessa has been broken for as long as she had been on this Earth. Her parents couldn't bother to raise her, and had only wanted favors from her. They had never known how to be parents, so they decided to let her map out her own life, with the help of the maids in the castle-like mansion she had lived in.

Odessa ended up taking over her father's business. The Sicilian mafia in New York. Her father was the underboss, but the head boss was unknown. She had taken over their duties, but does not have the title.

All her life, she had strived to make her parents proud. But, as every year, month, week, day, and hour passes by, the purpose she believes in to live out diminishes.
