CHIEF EMESHILE'S POV

"So, Chief that's how the case has been so far. Your son's are main suspects and there's little or nothing I can do. The Victim's family wants to go to court at all cost"

"Spare me that Inspector. There must be a way out. My reputation will suffer a very bad shake and be completely stained if my sons are Convicted"

"I know that Chief, I do. But you know it's not easy to manipulate people who know their human rights like it's a poem. My boys and I are trying what we can do
Remember the allegation is rape and murder"

"Clean this mess. I believe you can do so. Here, this is something to buy wine for yourself"
I brought out five bulks of one thousand naira notes and arranged them on his desk.

"Ahhhn, Chief, Chief" he praised at the sight of the cash neatly kept on his desk

"That is two hundred and fifty thousand naira there. So do what you should do and be sure to eat from the king's plate. I should be going now, I have few things to settle at the office"

"Okay Chief, I'll keep you updated"

"They've been bailed but will have to appear for all court proceedings. The hearing will be in Two weeks"

"Chief please do something.. these boys are my everything"

"I will"

Chapter Eighteen

FELICIA'S POV

"What are you doing Fay? My dad asked as he walked to meet me writing

"Good morning Dad" I greeted sitting up

"Morning my Dear. Can I see that?

"Lol, no daddy. It's a secret that I'm writing to.." I suddenly pause

"To Princess. I know" he said patting my back and letting me rest on him

"Dad, why do they have to bury her so quick? What if she was only in coma and and"

"Relax my Fay, everything will be okay"

"Yes it will, I nod in affirmation and continue what I was writing.

My dad left after a while of saying breakfast was ready and he wanted to make sure I didn't skip it.
Today, the lawyer would be coming to see Mr and Mrs Adebowale and I have to be there. That Alone, is enough reason to jump off my bed

"Sometimes I bump into her talking to thin air or even eating and dropping one spoon by her side" My mother worriedly complained to my father

"It's a phase. She's deeply wounded and Despite the burial arrangements, she believes Princess isn't really dead. You can't blame her, she's going through emotional trauma"

"I'm really scared dear. Don't you think she needs to see a therapist?

"I can't say for now. Give her time for herself and be just steps away Incase she needs you. She'll get over it and move on when she realizes Princess is no more.."

"No more where? Please this conversation keeps making me nauseous. I'll go out now, and I'll make sure I bring her with me" I said

"Philip and I can go to Roger's house and try to get him talk" I suggested

"Roger isn't all that dumb. You really think he would open his mouth and start accepting he was involved or knows anything? Philip asked

"I think you should give it a try" The attorney said
We need very strong evidence and suspicions can't lead us far.
I'll be leaving for the police station, call me if there's any news"

Mrs Adebowale kept sniffing and sighing. Two weeks already and she has suffered a great loss of weight.
