I was never able to go back to Finnick, after what happened during the interviews. When he left the lift I got the feeling that would be the last time that I would see him until the games.
Once I got to my floor some peacekeepers escorted me to my room where they would stay for the rest of the night.
After spending most of the night pacing in my room, my heart pounding in my throat, scared of what was going to happen in the following days, I tried to sleep but every time I did I would wake up from a nightmare.
It was all too real, we were in the games and I managed to find and stay with Finnick throughout the whole endeavor, all the way to it being the two of us being the last two. I tried to make it quick and easy but he was faster, we both went to kill me.
I got out of the bed and made my way to the shower letting ice cold water run over me for a few moments before turning the shower up so high it made my skin red. When I was finished with the shower I wrapped a robe around myself and went back to sitting on my bed.
Finally, there was a knock on my door, it opened to Jasper and Echo. Both of them grasped me in a hug, I knew today was the day that I would be going back in the arena and they were here to get me ready for just that.
This was going to be my last day in the Capital.
It was silent as Echo braided my hair, it was two braids down my head, the braiding style, fishtail again. I would keep it in as long as possible while I was in there, I have always loved how they did my hair. No makeup today, there would be no need.
After Echo was done they hugged me, and Jasper came over holding what would be my suit for the games.
I quickly got changed and went over and hugged them, "I'm going to miss you guys, you always did so well making me look good." I told them, tears were threatening to spill from my eyes, I have known these two since I was a kid, not that I am much older than what I was.
All too soon there was a knock on my door which made us all jump apart for one another, it was time to go.
We were all sitting in one of the hoverjets, I knew that right at this moment it wouldn't be the best time to go to Finnick, it hurt seeing him across the way and not being able to say anything, although I knew that at this moment of time it would be for the best.
After we were taken to wherever the games were being held this time, it was smart of them really to change the location every year. We were then moved to the holding room before we would ascend into the arena.
Once the door opened to my room I saw Jasper, he was leaning against the wall his arms crossed, he was about six foot three and it looked like he could take any one of us tributes, but he has always been a fashion designer.
"Well princess, this is it." He said, breaking the silence that was heavy in the room, it hurt to know that this would be the last time I would ever see Jasper.
"I'm going to miss you so much," I said pulling him into a hug, which he returned, his arm wrapped about my waist and his other hand was on the back of my head embracing me.
"Find Finnick and stay with him, we'll see each other again, I'll talk to you then." He whispered in my ear, I nodded and he slipped something on around my neck, I looked down and it was a black locket with a small silver wave on it. "Your district token," He said before leading me over to the tube that would put me in the arena.
I sucked in a sharp breath, knowing that nothing good was going to come of this, I just needed some throwing knives and I would be fine. I've done this before, with kids. Now that all of the other tributes were older and some I even loved this was going to be much harder than I thought.
I started to be lifted up and I saw sunlight above me, I snapped my head and looked at Jasper a tear falling from my eye as he left my sight. Once I was all the way up I looked around, Peeta from 12 was on my right-hand side, I remembered that Finnick wanted to be allied with him and Katniss, which I was hoping would still be true. On my left there was Gloss and he was looking right at me. Around me was just tons of water, this arena had a huge body of water in it and the bloodbath would be right in the middle. I looked around for Finnick hearing the voice above us start the count down.
"I could just jump now and save someone else the trouble" Came to my thoughts but I knew I would never be able to bring myself to do it.
