SYN WAS SEATED in her father's chamber, a saddened look placed on her face as she sat on the bench of Odin's bedside, Loki standing behind her, his hand placed on her shoulder. Both still feeling lost and overwhelmed by what had happened in the vault, how much had changed just because of that one lie.
''I asked him to be honest with the two of you from the beginning...'' Frigga said gently as she looked at her children, knowing they had deserved to know the truth about their true parentage a long time ago instead of figuring it out like this. The Queen was seated opposite of the twins, holding onto her husband's hand as a worried look was placed on her face, ''There should be no secrets in the family.''
Loki shared a look with Syn before he turned back to his mother. ''So why did he lie?'' He asked blankly, tilting his head to the side, even though you could clearly see the pain showing in his eyes.
''He kept the truth from you so that you would never feel different.'' Frigga retorted, her voice sounded calm and comforting as she wanted to let both Syn and Loki know that they belonged, but in truth, neither one of the twins had ever felt that way in the first place, not in the way their mother had wished for them.
''You are our son, Loki, and Syn, you're our daughter. We are your family.'' Frigga added, looking at them with tears glistening in her eyes and a hopeful expression placed on her face. ''You must know that.''
Both Syn and Loki remained silent for a moment. This was what the princess needed right now. The calm words and reassurance from her mother to keep her from breaking down once more while Loki needed her from going off the rails. She kept them from losing themselves.
The princess let a soft sigh slip from her lips as she looked down at Odin. ''You can speak to him.'' The Queen whispered as she was trying to see through the expression on Syn's face, trying to understand how she was currently feeling, but the only things clear on the princess' face was pain and heartbreak. ''He can see and hear us even now.''
''How long will it last?'' Syn questioned softly, turning her head up to face her mother who let a sigh slip from her lips, a saddened expression placed on her face. ''I don't know. This time it's different. We were unprepared.'' Frigga answered, sounding defeated.
''I'll never get used to seeing him like this.'' Loki stated, his expression blank before he released his grip onto Syn's shoulders and slowly sat down beside her. ''The most powerful being in the Nine Realms, lying helpless, until his body is restored.''
