WITH MALEKITH AND the Dark Elves now finally defeated, Syn and Thor returned back onto Asgard as the thunder god wanted to talk with his father about the recent events before they would go on their adventures.

Syn, on the other hand, didn't have anything to say to the Allfather after what had happened between them, which was why she waited for Thor outside and although heavily damaged by the Dark Elves' invasion, the Throne Room had remained.

Thor was now kneeled at the foot of the throne. ''You once said there would never be a wiser King than me. You were wrong. The alignment has brought all the realms together.'' Odin spoke as he stared down at his son with Gungnir in hand, standing highly above at the top of the stairs. ''Every one of them saw you offer your life to save them. What can Asgard offer its new King in return?''

Thor sighed, ''My life.'' He announced as he got back to his feet and looked down for a moment, knowing that the next words out of his mouth wouldn't be taken lightly by the Allfather. ''Father, I cannot be King of Asgard.'' The expression on Odin's face dropped, but there was something else, a spark hiding somewhere in his eyes, ''I will protect Asgard and all the realms with my last and every breath, but I cannot do so from that chair.''

''Loki for all his grave imbalance understood rule as I know I never will.'' Thor continued in a saddened way as he thought back to how his brother sacrificed himself and how he now believed his brother had died a hero by sacrificing himself to kill Kurse. ''The brutality, the sacrifice... It changes you. I'd rather be a good man than a great King.''

''Is this my son I hear? Or the woman he loves?'' Odin retorted as he adjusted his grip on Gungnir which caused Thor to smile as his desire to return to Midgard, to Jane was apparently too obvious, but made a comeback by asking, ''When you speak, do I never hear mother's voice?''

Odin sighed and cast his eye downwards as Thor took a step forward, ''This is not for Jane, father. She does not know what I came here to say.'' The thunder god said, shaking his head as he was making his point clear about rejecting the throne. ''Now forbid me to see her or say she can rule at my side, it changes nothing.''

Odin sank wearily in his throne, ''One son who wanted the throne too much, another who will not take it and a daughter who refuses to rule by the side of a King. Is this my legacy?''

Thor frowned at the mention of Syn's arranged marriage to the prince of Vanaheim and knew that if she married him, she would have been Queen, but also knew that wasn't something his baby sister wanted. She wanted to be free and see the world, practice her magic and continue training, and as Thor was being honest, she was a damn good warrior as well.
