"The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?"
- Edgar Allan Poe

Life is funny, you know? You think you have it all. Hell, I sure did. Better hold on to what you have while you got it, because within a blink of an eye it can slip through your fingers like sand.

My name is Lily, and I learned that the hard way. This isn't a story of a courageous hero who conquers the dragon and falls in love with the beautiful princess only to take her hand in marriage. Where is the realism in that? Those stories are only skin deep. What drove that boy to charge into the fire for that princess?

One word: beauty.

Would he have really risked his hide for the girl if she didn't have those stereotypical features? What if her cheeks were rounded, and her hair a mess from hours of screaming into her pillow, waiting for her own rescuer? What if her body didn't bend into those perfect curves? What if her face wasn't smooth as it could be? Would he have saved her then? Would he have even taken a second glance at her?

No. This isn't a story consisting of only skin deep love. If you can even call it that.

True love comes from falling for the beauty within.
