My phone vibrated, buzzing a couple centimeters across my computer desk. I picked it up and unlocked it, looking at my message. I sighed. It was from my best friend Jake and only displayed four little words.

I hate my life.

Why? I replied. It only took a couple minutes for him to respond. He proceeded to ramble on about how he was lovesick and wanted love in his life.

I shook my head and responded. Dude, you are only a freshmen is high school.

Why did people have to be like this. Love this, love that. Love, love, love. Did they not stop to think that it was only freshmen year. I felt plenty comfortable waiting for dating. I mean with most of the guys from the school I went to school with. They were pigs. Whistling at girls as they walked past. Staring at their chest and ass. It disturbed me. Those men only wanted beauty.

They would never look at me twice. I had a rounded face, not one with high cheekbones. My body didn't curve into a slender build. I was slightly overweight... I couldn't really help it. I was a stress eater. When put under pressure or when I was depressed, I would eat. And that was a lot. I was trying to cut back. I had to use all my willpower to. Though I was depressed a lot. It was like that since seventh grade.

I looked at my phone and sighed. 3:00 AM. Another sleepless night so far. My eyes itched with exhaustion, but my mind was racing. With my mind racing I couldn't find sleep. I was worried for my friend.

Jake and I had been friends since first grade. We had one of those special friendships that seemed to pull through everything thick and thin. We had met the first day of first grade, and it was basically instant friendship. He was one of the only people I could trust with my secrets. I felt like I could trust him with anything, including my life.
