Cliff jumping

She stood on the edge of the cliff. Her arms lifted from her sides like she was about to fly away. She wished she could, fly away from the past.
It was so secluded out here. The isolation made the cold weather hurt and the snow icy.
Finally she fell. She landed in a ball, crashing beneath the waves and feeling the soothing breeze of the current. She opened her eyes, wide and amber. Suddenly she felt it flow through her, the magic. Fire glided from her hands and swam in mesmerising patterns around her. Under here no one could get hurt, no one would feel the heat. Before she knew it she couldn't breathe any longer. She crashed through the surface of the rough waves and gasped for air. The magic had stopped. She floated for a moment, breathing and dying all at once. Eventually she regained her strength and swam to the black stoned shore.

It was on a day like this when they visited. She had come back from one of her regular 'cliff jumps' when she heard the knock on her door. She looked around, confused for a moment but the answered.

"Hello," Amber peered out to an unfamiliar face.

"Amber, right?" asked the bubbly figure.

"Yes, and you are?"

"Someone who needs you," the face became serious, but still kind. The woman removed her red hood and let soft blonde curls fall freely about her face. Her big brown eyes glistened with happiness and kindness. Amber felt the need to trust her.

"Would you like to come in?" Amber moved herself out of the way as she opened the door wider and gestured inside her house. The woman smiled as she entered.

"I heard you're from Hillsway? The one that was destroyed in that fire ten years ago," the woman stated light heartedly as she sat down at Ambers dining table.

"Yes," Amber cautiously sat down across from her.

"A six year old caused it, if I'm correct?"

"They don't know what caused it."

"They? Don't you mean 'we'?" The woman eyed her suspiciously.

"Are you interrogating me? What do you want?" Amber asked sternly.

"I want to confirm that it was in fact you, and that you are in fact the girl we need?"

"Who is we?"

"You're not the only one Amber. And we need your help, badly." The woman stood up to leave.

"Wait, what's your name?"

"Adeline," Adeline slowly opened the front door and placed her hood back on as she stepped out into the cold.

"Wait, what do you want?" Amber called after her as she slowly walked away.

"I want you to follow me," Adeline answered, still walking.
Amber hesitated, but eventually obeyed. Could there possibly be others like her? It didn't matter, this woman knew too much whether or not she was telling the truth.
