Chitra's POV

🎶🎶

I like digging holes and hiding things inside them
When I grow old, I hope I won't forget to find them
'Cause I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night
🎶🎶

"I thought you loved me, like I do!"

I had a hard time to stifle in my laugh on observing the way Vicky's eyes grew in size and were on the verge of popping out of his eye sockets.

It's not the time for fun, Chitra!
Get a grip!

It's time for some much - overdue action and loads of drama ahead.

The stern reminder from my conscience held me from messing up
the situation.

"What do you mean by that?" Vicky's hoarsed voice finally emerged out from his vocal cords.

"It was a direct declaration!" I retorted back, chinning up with unwavering confidence.

No one, I repeat, no one is going to make me falter in my well drawn path, until I bring it to it's end.

🎶🎶
I build a home and wait for someone to tear it down
Then pack it up in boxes,
head for the next town running
'Cause I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

Thankfully, the others had already moved way towards the tea stall, leaving me along with two frozen statues - Vicky and Ria, behind.

"You-you like me?" Vicky stammered in disbelief, trying to make some sense out of my confession. He pointed to himself as an additional assurance, if the words misdirected, atleast the gestures would leave no room for confusion. "Just to be sure I'm not hearing things". He even went out to unclog his ears, assuming the cold's adverse effects had something to do with what he might have perceived mistakenly.

Rolling my eyes at his antics, I said, "You heard it wrong -'. Before I could finish my sentence, he let out a deep breath of relief and his tensed shoulders sagged in comfort. I continued before he concludes something with his half-information.

"I said love not like, Vicky. You are right, your ears are ringing." I huffed out my breath, which formed a dense cloud in the air, due on the condensation.

Not only we were having a war of words, but also our breaths were fighting it off. With each other's cloud trying to dominate the other, once they clashed. It was a sight to behold.
Coming back from my derailed thoughts, as always, I cleared my throat to state.

"Chitra loves Vicky". Ria's almost inaudible mumble could be heard, due to the serenity of the atmosphere.

It looked like more like she was stating it aloud to come in terms with it. She seemed to be stuck in a hypnotic state and repeating some phrases.

"Why wouldn't I love Vicky?!", I stated in defiance.

Turning towards him, I placed my hand on his arm and softening my features, I said. "I'm sorry, Vicky. I should have told you this before. I never imagined that one day it'll be out like this. I had planned to tell you in zillions of ways; trust me, but never, never this way. I can understand what you may be going through right now." I punctuated my confession with a half sad smile.

Vicky jerked off my hand immediately. "What are you telling?!? Do you even know what you are talking, Chitra?" He whisper-yelled, trying to contain his agitated self.
