Ria's POV
🎶🎶
I've been cheated,
been mistreated
When will I be loved
I've been put down,
I've been pushed 'round
When will I be loved
🎶🎶Clutching Vicky's wrist, I blurted out to his back, in a clear cut voice which turned out to be a dramatic reveal.
"I don't have a husband!"
I could see his shoulders stiffen before he spun on his heels swiftly, to disclose the confused frown etched on his face.
"What do you mean by you don't have a husband? Did you guys divorce or he passed away? When did it happen? RIA will you answer or not?"
Like I was under a firing zone, he barked out a volley of questions, unceasingly towards me. His impatience and growing anxiety, at it's peaks.
"If you let me speak, I will answer right!" Scowling at him, I replied.
His pupils dialated as he shot a deadly glare at me. "Ya, ya,ya. DON'T, don't you dare use the same weapon always in your defense! I didn't tie your hands or put a lock on your mouth, that it's holding you back from speaking up for yourself. Urgh! God! Ria!" He scoffed in desperation.
I rolled my eyes at him, if he thinks he can scare me with those piercing glares, he's highly mistaken. The shots fired just bounced off my protective shield alias auro.
"If you want an answer, ask like a normal human, Viks". I responded back sassily, seeping into my comfort levels with him.
He let out a long tired heave and kept mumbling something to calm himself down. This act of his unknowingly cast a smile on my face. We both knew I was trying to de-escalate the situation and let his nerves calm down. Otherwise, what I say wouldn't seep into his thick skull and he'll go back into a shopping spree for picking up conclusions.
"Ok, now my dear highness, will you please utter some precious words?" He asked in sickening sweet voice with the most fake smile I have seen.
I bit my inner cheeks to hold my laughter as it would be inappropriate, but it serves him right. It was payback for all the times he didn't let me have my say in it.
"Ab aaya oonth, pahaad ke nichche (a stubborn person finally given in, bowing down or agreeing to others)".
He rolled his eyes at my taunt and folded his arms across my chest. Nudging his chin, he signalled to me to come to the point."You like building castles in the air, right Viks." His eyes diminishing in size, as my words reeled out. "Don't narrow your eyes at me like that. You are such a dumbass, do you know that?!?"
He was painstakingly aware that his one word of interruption, will only cause more delay for his currated question paper to be answered. He learnt well from his past experiences. All he did was tapped his finger on his wristwatch as a time-check gesture.
Acknowledging him by nodding my head, I continued to state. "You are dumb because all I said is that I don't have a husband. Any sensible, intelligent man would first question if I was married or not. But, you had to go two steps ahead, like the 'extraordinary person' you are!"
My not-so-inheritant sarcasm didn't go unnoticed by him. He looked at me with pleading eyes, not to test his patience anymore. "Ria, can we skip to the answer please. Don't talk in riddles."
