the first day of lessons was rough.
komori and kanoka were the only two mentors that actually taught well and conducted their sessions smoothly.
kageyama and hinata were great players but not the best teachers.
tsukishima and suna just downright disliked one another but they still got good advice across. a lot of tension though.
"it just seems like these mentors have too much history among themselves.", nene remarked
"we're down to the last session of the day", harumi clapped her hands together, "finally"
their group walked into a gym where the previous batch had been before.
"helloooo", bokuto waved as they walked in. atsumu smirked at y/n.
"i wonder what that's about", nene thought.
y/n had explained to her about how she managed to embarrass herself in front of seven pro players all together.
"what we're doing today is we're gonna play five on five", bokuto explained, "because we just wanna get an idea of your level. atsumu and i will randomly pick players."
"actually six on five, because we're an odd number".
he looked at atsumu. "you choose first."
"l/n", atsumu replied, smoothly, with no hesitation whatsoever.
"what the fuck"
everyone stared at y/n, who just nodded and tried to remain chill as she walked over to one side of the court.
bokuto didn't seem to be as surprised. he looked through the people.
"who's a good setter here?"
he ended up picking shina. the selection went by smoothly after that. nene ended up on y/n's team, haru went to shina's. the rest were freshmen.
y/n would soon find out that there was a side to atsumu that she hadn't seen yet.
to put it simply, he was rude. but not outright rude. which was somehow worse.
he would glare at people if they couldn't hit his tosses or got blocked before mumbling something along the lines of "it's okay".
he said it just for the sake of it, anyone could tell he didn't even mean it. he was clearly holding back from saying anything more.
nene seemed to catch onto this but said nothing. but she also didn't get irritated when he glared at her, which she would've under normal circumstances.
atsumu was not thrilled by the idea of training high school students for a week. but he was being paid heavily to do so and he did like money, at the end of the day. who didn't?
