four weeks before the olympics

atsumu and y/n were currently heading to his house in the hyōgo prefecture.

he was driving. the windows were rolled down, allowing the chilly air to fill the car. faint music was playing in the background.

his hand was resting comfortably on her thigh, and he was humming along to the music in a hushed, off-key voice.

"i can't believe olympics are weeks away", she remarked, staring outside the window as if she was in the music video of some sad song

"i can't believe all of us actually made it to the squad", he exhaled heavily, "fuck"

this was the last time they would feel any kind of normalcy before the hefty pressure of competing with the best of the best was upon them.

the drive had been about two hours long. y/n's pro team was based in osaka as well, so thankfully she didn't spend time apart from atsumu like she used to.

atsumu got out of the car, opening the door for her and they walked to the doorstep of the house.

"there they are, my two olympians!!", the door had barely opened when atsumu's mom engulfed y/n into a warm hug

"technically not yet", the girl laughed as she hugged her back

"how come she gets the hug first?!", atsumu gasped

"because she's my favourite, not you or samu", she replied, "come on in y/n, samu's making lunch!"

"yes", she sighed blissfully, "i've been craving his onigiri like, forever now"

the first time y/n had met atsumu's mom, she surprisingly did not care about the age gap. well, she mainly wanted to make sure that her son was not using his fame to take advantage of this poor girl or something.

but once y/n assured her that tsumu had only treated her right, she came around. she actually grew very fond and protective of her son's girlfriend over the years.

"samu!!", y/n ran into the kitchen to give the other twin a hug

"hi!!", he exclaimed as he returned it, "how are you?!"

she sat down on the kitchen counter a little far from where he was working

"i'm... tired from the drive", she sighed, "you?"

"good, average", he shrugged, "how's olympic training? tiring?"

"very, but i'm kinda used to it by now", she stretched her arms up, "you'll come watch, won't you?"

he nodded, chuckling, "yeah i do have tickets to the preliminaries"

"oh we're so going past the preliminaries", she pouted, "don't you have any faith in me?"
