on the way back from meeting osamu, atsumu seemed... quiet. very uncharacteristically quiet and also kinda nervous.

another side of him that she was unaware of. she really didn't know him at all, is what she had come to realise.

"so your brother's nice", she said, breaking the silence between them

"yeah, to you", he replied, not looking at her, "he's always nice to pretty girls"

"is something bothering you?", she asked, tilting her head as she looked at him, blatantly ignoring the half assed compliment because he didn't even seem like he cared about it.

he shook his head.

"it seems like something is", she stated, looking back ahead

"like what?"

"i don't know, you tell me-"

"tch, i said nothing's wrong, y/n", he looked irritated now, "so just stop asking"

she was a little bit taken aback by his sudden change in mood and sharp tone. she stared outside the window.

"okay", she shrugged, "whatever"

he sighed, immediately realising he shouldn't have snapped. for a few minutes there was a very uncomfortable silence.

but then he took a deep breath and began talking.

"i'm s-sorry i... uh..", he began, and now she was even more surprised. "i'm just.."

"you don't apologise to people often huh", she stated dryly

"how do you see through that?", he asked

"no one stutters that much while apologising"

"i'm sorry", he said more smoothly

"it's okay", she nodded, "but i kinda have a question for you"

"go on"

"why'd you ask me to go with you?"

"y/n, what do you think of samu?", he asked, countering her question

"he's really nice.", she began, "you both are similar in some aspects but otherwise very different. he's more... chill though, i would say. why?"

"hmmm...", they finally pulled into the parking lot in the training centre, "cool"

now y/n was just confused. atsumu didn't seem to hate osamu. they acted like a pretty normal pair of siblings. and yet it felt as if samu was a sore spot for him. it was complicated to understand if he didn't spell it out for her.

the car stopped. atsumu didn't look at her.

but god, he looked so perfect.

"y/n go out with me."
