"wait, riko, how do you even know that?", chika asked, because she had no idea about it either. and such a relationship would usually be made public, especially with two people like them.

"no they dated long back, like when they were in high school", kyoko added, "yeah, now i remember. one of his older fangirls tweeted about it"

"midori kinda mentioned it once too"

"damn, that's so cool"

"nene senpai, why do you look so distracted?"

"nothing", nene shrugged, "just wondering how y/n's interview is going"

"firstly l/n-san, are you happy to make it to the top three aces in japan right now? last year you were in the top five."

"well yeah i'm happy", y/n leaned back on the couch in the room, watching the lady take notes, "i'd probably be happier if i was the best though"

"understandable", midori chuckled, "do you think your team will be able to win nationals in the spring tournament?"

"we will. i think we have a very good chance."

"i really like your confidence l/n-san", she smiled,
"what's your practice schedule like?"

"i train everyday, five hours or so. more if i can, actually. sunday is a so called 'rest day'."

"that's impressive!", she exclaimed, "but man, it must be tiring"

"oh it really is", she sighed, "but it's what ends up getting you interviews with volleyball monthly so i'm not complaining."

she laughed before moving on to the next question.

"who's your favourite volleyball player?"

"oikawa tooru", y/n replied. no hesitation.

she noticed that the interviewer seemed surprised, as if she had expected a different reply.
