Mahi's POV

For some reason, I found myself in Mayank's company more and more often. Just yesterday he'd taken me out to the best restaurant in Rajasthan. Or so he thought it was the best restaurant, I have to disagree. I stared at myself in the mirror, seeming the same but feeling so emotionally different.

When... When Mayu was still around, I had the mischievous glint in my eye. But now, it's rare to even see me smile. But Mayank made me smile, just the thought of him did that. But a part of me screamed insults, yelling at me to stay faithful to the guy who saved my life.

I never felt so divided in my life, I saw two doors of opportunity. Mayank standing there with his cheeky and aloof smile, holding his hand out, waiting for me. But in the other, I saw My Mayu. The guy who chose my life over his own.

"Hey," I heard a whisper from behind me, and I whirled around. Mayank leaned on the door frame, and I spared a smile.

"Glad to see you out and about... and not inside the room all day." I could see the relief twinkling in his eyes, but there was a mixture of hope.

"Mayu's watching us you know," He walked past me and nudged me, and I sighed staring at the ceiling.

"I... I don't know what I'll do without him..." I turned away and curled up into a ball. Falling into my grief once more.

"He was lucky to have you," Mayank sighed softly, and I glanced at him. His eyes ached with longing, and I scooted an inch further away. I knew that a small part of him was happy, because without Mayu around... he had a chance.

But my heart was locked, and belonged only to Mayu... right?

"I wanna ask this girl out" Mayank blurted out randomly and heat rushed to my cheeks,

"It's... It's just that she's.... She just got out of a relationship..." He covered his face, I noticed his face turning red with embarrassment.

Sounds familiar... too familiar

"If you were that girl, how would you want me to ask you out?" Mayank flopped over on his stomach so that he could face me, and I shrugged.

"Just pour out what you feel," I mumbled incoherently, and my heart started beating faster when he looked me in the eye.

"Mahi, I know that you just had your heartbroken. But those scars in your heart don't disappear, but they can fade. I'll be by your side forever, if... if you'll just allow me to. I've been in love with you for a while now, to be honest. I was jealous as heck-" He paused to stop his rant, "Will... will you be my girlfriend?"
