Muckrake:(v.)to search for and expose real for alleged corruption, scandal or the like, especially in politics.
Hysteria is planted in my veins as I walk towards the port, an active one. It is a famous place for trading and marketing in New York City. A pile of merchant boxes is arranged on each other. It is cramped with people in here but no one is authorized near the scene. The sea is ataractic adverse what is facing it.
Tonight, it's cornered off with police tape, and the media everywhere. They circled the scene like a hungry pack of wolves waiting to feed. I peeked over at the entrance the steel shutters covered with graffiti are lowed over the entrance.
They secured the crime scene.
"Jasper" I gesture for him to come. He immediately reached me as his long, tall legs took big steps in a rush. A flash of sympathy and guilt formed in his gloomy eyes for a few seconds before he stood beside me.
"You are a strong girl, I know you'll get away with this"He rubbed my arm soothingly, giving me a sad smile.
"Thank you, but it is not the right time for this now, "I said in one breathe"That's Seth's corpse, right?"My heart breaks every time I look at him, blood-stained around his position. I swallow the lump in my throat, my hands shaking.
He doesn't answer which gives me what I questioned for."Hold up, Where is Juliane's?"I furrow my eyebrows, curiosity peaks through me.
"Umm, There is only one body is found now nothing else"I approach Seth, His face is unrecognizable due to the beating and fighting, Life is drained from him. What did he endure for him to result in this state? Poor Seth, a tear slide down my cold cheek, I instantly wipe it.
"Jasper, I'll catch you inside okay? I'm gonna head in and take a look."I dismiss him.
He nodded and returned his attention to the forensic team. I made my way over inside, he eyed the outside of it and news reporters with a sharp eye. Mel Turner a well-known CNN News reporter caught Detective Jasper's eye. Mel jogged toward him, as she stepped in line with Jasper's path she shoved a microphone under his nose, and the cameraman filmed the action.
"Detective, Detective do you have any idea who the killer is?"
"No... not at this point." He responded avoiding the camera, mindful not to give away too many details. She kept walking at a brisk pace to the crime scene.
"But Detective, you can't be serious, this is the third murder in one week. You mean to say the LAPD is still clueless about the killer?"
He stopped dead in his tracks, annoyed at the reporter's bravery. Cleverly, he tried to get a rise out of her with her comment.
"Ma'am get that microphone outta my face. With all due respect, this is a crime scene and y'all need to move away from here."
He increased his pace toward merchants, his flat loafers pounded the pavement as a swarm of reporters headed his way. As Jasper approached them, he inhaled a deep breath, cameras flashed behind him.
