After the scheduled meeting, those who were skeptical of their alpha's supposed rehabilitation found themselves amongst the believers. Nothing was missed, nothing was ill handled nor was there any room left for procrastination. Those who thought they could take advantage of the alpha assumed weakness to slack off were not only found out but throughtmly reprimanded and punished.
At the end of the 2 and a half hour meeting. No one could say that their alpha was weakening. As the council thinned out of the meeting room, they whispered praises for their perfect leader.
The alpha in question however continued to gather up his things when he felt himself in the line of a persistent gaze.
He glanced up and met eyes with his second and his predecessor. Lowering his gaze, he slowled his action and waited until the room was empty of all but them three.
"What can i do for you ?" He questioned to which the elder pair exchanged a short glance before approaching their leader.
"How are you holding up?"The former alpha asked with a smile. Roy stared back at him blankly for a short period of time before turning his gaze to the former second.
"Eliza assured that Aaron would be back," David calmly stepped forward, moving in front of his old friend as he got straight to the point. "She also hinted that if he didn't, it would be the fault of Jane"
After his words fell, there came silence.
Personally, Roy would like to to think that if Aaron was not with him, there had to be a reason. Though they had fought, When he left, Aaron had said he would be back. And even to this day, Roy believed that his destined did not lie to him. However, after so much time had passed, he also felt that Aaron should had been back by now.
And anyone would be blind not to have notice the animosity that Jane had towards Aaron. Nor was it possible to ignore her sudden good humor theses passed few days.
However, hating someone and being happy was not grounds for slander.
"Do you have any proof?"The alpha asked without the slightest hesitation.
"Only your cousin never failing intuition" David says. His back straight and voice even. His shame competely hidden away by his demenor.
Had it not been for his friend and former leader, David would not have mentioned anything. But after he had been warned by Eliza, the former second uncounscioucless began to observe his college and though there was nothing damnable to point out. His own intuition was flaring up. He felt that there was something not quite right with her.
"Eliza never liked Jane" The alpha argued with a sigh. "Her opinion can not be said to be without bias"
"Jane has been rather weird" The former alpha intervened. Stepping from behind his friend with a firm voice.
"Details" Roy demanded. To which another round of silence was instigated. after a full minute where no words were spoken. Roy assumed that the conversation was over, he took his things and turned to leave.
"If there is a chance that she really did wrong towards your mate then aren't you-" David began to argue but could only stop at the raise of his leader's hand.
"Aaron is a member of Arsenal, as is Jane. Her status within the pack far exceeds his in terms of merites and senority. She is also a member of the council where he is not. I will not accuse her of anything without reason." His arguments were valid and responsible.
For a moment, David was dumbfounded. Though Roy seemed to be unaffected by the absence of his mate, David had always believed it was just a well kept up act.
