Chapter 16

"Sofie, let's talk."

"Please, just let me explain everything to you."

"What's there to explain, Kino? How many times do I have to tell you that I am NOT Sophie?

Kino has been pursuing me to let him explain and let me talk to his Mom. They kept on insisting that I am Sophie, which is not true kasi napaka-imposible lang talaga.

"No, you really are my sister, Kelsey. We ran a DNA test last month and the result just came out last last week and it was 99.9% positive. Believe me, Kelsey."

How can they ran a test without me knowing about it?

"You ran a test without my consent? Seriously, Kino? Now, leave the hell out of here." Itinuro ko ang elevator. "I don't wanna see you again and stop bothering me, will you?!"

How fuck up could my freaking life get?

How am I supposed to believe them when everything seems like a joke? A big prank that would cause a huge heartache and pain.

"Are you okay, honey?"

I looked up to Rina. Her eyes was filled with worry while looking at me.

"I'll be, soon."

"You can cry, honey."

Her words was like a cue to me. I began crying my heart out at her arms and Rina would just caress my hair to ease my sobs.

"It's okay. Everything will turn out fine, honey."

"I d-don't know what to do anymore, Rina… I-i feel like I've been pranked on," I sobbed.

"That's understandable, honey. You grew up with a different family. The family who raised you started abusing you when your foster father died. You might not have noticed it, but a part of you is traumatize when it comes to family because of what your foster mother did to you. They gave you the wrong definition of what a family truly is that caused you to not easily accept everything that life's offering you. You were raised with the mindset of give and give but doesn't have the right to accept. A part of you blames your true family for having to experienced the pain and sufferings that you do not deserve because of their selfishness and carelessness. So yeah, let all your wounds heal first before deciding of whether you'll accept your biological family or not. But do give them a chance to explain to you and show their affection towards you. Give them a chance, Kelsey, trust me, It'll turn out great."

"Thank you, Rina."

"No need to say that, honey. As your friend, it's my job to console and give you advices whenever you need one."
