"Don't worry little moon I've got you."
I looked up in confusion from my bed to see my mother's bright silver eyes glaze over meaning someone was mind linking her. Her eyes returned to normal and she quickly wrapped me in my favorite fuzzy blanket picking me up.
"Time to be quite little moon." My mother whispered looking down at me as she picked me up clutching me close to her chest. I nodded my head in understanding, while rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"What's happening mommy?" I could start to hear growling and screaming outside our pack house as my mother made it down the hall to my father the alphas office. I held onto her tighter and could feel my body shaking with fear.
"Their over there! Get them!" I turned my head towards the voice yelling in the distance and could make out a large figure down the hall just as my mother slipped through the door.
"Look at me little moon." My frightened little eyes met my mothers instantly. "You need to be brave now okay." She nodded her head towards the secret passage behind my father's bookcase.
"No mommy I can't, I'm afraid!" I cried as I attempted to clutch her tighter but she set me down and pulled the bookcase over only enough to fit my small eight year old body through.
"Yes you can little moon." She smiled calmly at me. I heard a loud bang making me jump slightly and realized the wolves on the other side were trying to break down the door.
"You can't hide her from me anymore! She will belong to me Selene!" I heard the scary voice yell from the other side of the door.
"Mommy, what's going on? Who are they? Who are they talking about?" I cried to my mother. Confusion and fear evident in my tiny eyes.
I felt my mother grab me pulling me towards the opening in the bookcase. "Look at me little moon." She spoke gently wiping a rouge tear from my tiny cheek.
"You are more special than you know and I'm sorry I never explained to you. Your father and I just wanted to keep you safe."
Crack! My mother's head whipped to the door that was beginning to splinter under its attack.
She turns back to me grabbing my face in her soft delicate hands. "I need you to run now. I need you to be brave and run as fast as you can to the blue mountain warrior pack. Ask for Beta Benjamin. He will keep you safe. I love you." She leans down kissing my forehead gently before shoving me through the opening causing me to land on my bottom.
I find my footing again and rush to the opening but it closes just as I reached it.
"No mommy please don't leave me! Mommy! I cried banging my fist hard against the wall. I pressed my ear up to the wall to listen just as a loud crash sounded from the other side.
"Where is she Selene!" I heard the scary voice roar out followed by a smacking sound and a thud against the floor.
My mother chuckled fiercely. "You'll never have her......."
BOOM!
