I stared out into the distance.

The ocean was loud as it danced in salty waves. The smell of firewood filled my nose, bringing me instant comfort.

The sky was dark with orange and early morning pink. Stars still peeked from behind the clouds. Dawn was approaching. Everything was at peace.

There was a lighthouse across the ocean. I didn't miss the bright flare of light as it rotated from east to west.

I had been in Ibiza for two weeks now. Not once did I hear from Rowan. I knew that Colton was in contact with him, but we never discussed him.

I sighed in content as a gentle breeze welcomed me into the new day.

"I figured I'd find you here," I heard a familiar voice behind me.

I turned my head to see Colton standing over me in shorts and a shirt. He took a seat in the sand right next to me.

"I just needed to get some air and clear my head," I responded.

"You okay?" Colton asked me. He asked me that question every day. It was as if he thought I would end my life or something.

I nodded and pulled my knees up my chest. "I just want all of this to be over."

"Is that why you haven't unpacked anything?"

It was true. Apart from the bag I packed, I hadn't taken anything else out.

There were two suitcases of things. I was hoping that by the time I'd gone through my bag, I would be back in Madrid. I didn't want to accept the fact that once this was over, Rowan was going to send me to America.

"I'll do it today," I said, staring at the crashing waves in front of me.

We sat and watched the sun set in the sky before I decided to go back to Colton's loft.

The walk back was mainly quiet. Colton and I talked about what we were planning on doing today. I was going to finish unpacking and probably watch Harry Potter films until I fell asleep.

Arriving at the house, I opened the door and let Colton in.

"What happened to ladies first?" he asked me.

"It's the twenty-first century," I responded, closing the door behind us.

He chuckled and turned on the TV which was already on the News channel. "Shit," he mumbled seconds later, catching my attention.

I turned to the screen to see a middle-aged man. "Who's that?" I asked.

"Ssh," Colton snapped, turning up the television.

I frowned, but remained quiet.

"Dr. Will Tribec was found dead in his home at 6:35 PM along with his girlfriend, Eva White," the reporter spoke.

I stepped closer to Colton, confused as to why he was so invested in some random man being dead.

The reporter paused briefly before speaking again. "Just in, the cause of death was external bleeding from multiple stab wounds on the victim's body. The photo revealed in a few seconds is incredibly sensitive. Viewer discretion is advised."

Less than a second later, Will Tribeca's naked body appeared on the screen. I felt last night's dinner rise in my throat. I covered my mouth to keep from puking all over Colton's white carpet.

The man was beaten into an unrecognizable state. There were cut wounds all over his body, and a 'V' was carved on his abdomen. His penis was gone.
