Peace in the Violence

"Do you really think I can plan a birthday party at a time like this?" I asked Colton, walking away from him.

"If you're not happy, Rowan will kill me," he responded in an exaggerated tone.

He followed me into the kitchen and watched from the other side of the counter as I poured myself a glass of water.

"Well then prepare for death because you both know what will truly make me happy," I snapped, walking out.

I stalked up the stairs and closed the door behind me.

I heard his groan in annoyance and I smirked.

Colton would gloat if he found out, but I loved his company. Our friendship was definitely a unique one.

We had a schedule now. Every morning, I would make him go to the beach and watch the sunrise. We would go back home and watch tv. He made sure to stay away from news channels. We both knew what we were going to see. After my "panic attack" the other day, he said it would be best if we left the news where it was.

We would shower, dress, and he would take me to all of the tourist attractions before dinner. Colton and I always had fun cooking dinner together. It got my mind off of everything. I didn't think of Rowan until nightfall.

Colton would be sound asleep on the couch downstairs and I would be in the guestroom upstairs.

To keep me from feeling numb in the heart, I'd started to cut myself. I wanted to feel something, so when I saw Rowan again, I wouldn't hate him.

Every night, I made a small slash on my thigh.

It has now been a month since my little transition to Ibiza. My birthday was in two days and I wasn't in a celebratory mood.

"You can invite your friends," he said outside of my door.

Grinning, I opened the door to see him leaning against the post with his hands in his pockets. "You're the best," I exclaimed, jumping into his arms.

He wrapped his arms around me, chuckling.

"Oh my god," I yelled, jumping away from him. Fear and curiosity crossed his face. "I have to call Heather and Lily."

He relaxed and rolled his eyes before walking off.

I followed close behind like a lost puppy. "No, wait," I called from behind him.

"I'm sure you can handle it all," he said, jogging down the stairs.

I placed my hands on the rail and looked down. "I can't do this all by myself," I yelled.

"When you first got to Rowan's mansion, he forced you to design an entire ball and you learned how to ballroom dance," he replied somewhere downstairs.

I huffed and made my way back to my room.

I pulled out my phone and called the groupchat Heather put us in.

They answered immediately.

After telling them my birthday plans, I watched them run frantically around their rooms. I laughed at their silly behaviors. They were throwing things in a suitcase.

"You're only going to be here for the weekend," I said, still laughing at them.

My birthday was Friday which means I had today and Thursday to turn this place into a 23-year old party.

No one had ever thrown me a party, so I didn't even know where to begin.

"How about this," Lily's voice echoed over the speaker. I picked my phone up and signaled for her to continue speaking. "We fly out tonight and plan the whole thing for you. It'll be a surprise-not-surprise," she said. Excitement was in her voice.

I nodded. "I was just thinking about how I had no idea where to begin in throwing my own party, so that would be a great help," I said.

"I just bought my ticket," Heather said minutes later.

"Send me your intineraries so Colton and I can know when to pick you up from the airport," I replied. She nodded.

I put my phone back down on the dresser and stared out onto my balcony. I was excited. My friends and Colton would be with me. I was sure he would invite some friends.

A small get together would be nice. It would definitely take my mind off of him.

I would hear Heather and Lily in the background making tons of chaotic noises, but right now all I felt was peace.

Another short chapter that sucked. One more chapter that will suck and then I will release a chapter that I am very proud of before I go back into hiding.
