Months passed quickly, as the months passed the problems started to form out of blue. Klaus did not want to accept the fact that he was getting bored, he did not want to leave Elena heartbroken. However deep down, he craved for anyone but Elena.

As the death threats and the danger came to end, fun did not last at all. Klaus was not aware that it was just him mistreating Elena, and Elena trying to hide her heartbreak. She was smiling and looking around even though he was always breaking her heart nowadays.

And Klaus was bored how she was handling his bullshit amazingly. How she was never showing sadness or hatred, acting like all she wanted to do was be with him no matter what. And yes, all she wanted was being with Klaus, because she really meant it when she said that she was in love.

Things had been weird, she was staying in the mansion with his family and she was more like a family than she was a lover to Klaus. There was a time they were not able to leave each other more than an hour, now sometimes Klaus wasn't even stopping by their room.

Elena was realizing what was happening, he was slipping away from her. She hated it, she hated why she could not name a legit reason for them to fall apart. She was able to see that he was bored, and she hated the feeling that she was just a toy he treated like his favorite for several months.

Rebekah and Kol were usually with her, also Jeremy. Rebekah was seeing the way Elena was treated, she did not deserve it, not after everything she had sacrificed because of Klaus, she did not deserve the way she was only blaming herself.

Kol was always trying to lighten her up, and sometimes it was working. However sometimes, Elena was just looking through the blankness without a word and no one was able to snap her out of it. She was doing terrible, worse than terrible and she was not able to understand why they were going down all of a sudden.

So she pulled herself back together one night and walked to the room Klaus would be sleeping in. She entered in, seeing he was still awake and reading something Elena was not really interested in.

He looks happy, happy for the first time in weeks.

Elena walked to him after she closed the door, catching Klaus' attention this time. A small sad smile crept upon her lips and Klaus sighed. He loved Elena, more than he loved himself or anything else but he was not able to name one reason why he was acting in the way he was acting.

Brunette crouched down, her head coming to his knees as he was sitting and reading. Elena looked at his face, to his eyes directly as he closed the book. He looked down at Elena who was biting her cheek to avoid her tears and the burning sense down her throat. "Can we talk, please?" She sounded so weak, he felt terrible but nodded his head as she closed her eyes with a sigh.

"Where am I going wrong? What did I do that horrible that you treat me as a stranger?" She asked as a tear fell down through her cheek, one she did not even bother to wipe at all. Klaus gulped, he was not aware that how sad she saw, how she was dying inside. "Because I really thought and I couldn't find any reasons"

Klaus shook his head looking back to the ceiling, he was not sure if he could answer it. "You need some sleep, we can discuss this later" Elena shook her head and looked at the man she was once calling her lover. "Please, Nik, don't shut me down. I am begging you, talk to me because I feel like like I am dying"

Brunette pleaded as she looked at him with teary eyes and half open lips, allowing her to breath properly. "I love you Nik, I don't know if you still return it but I still love you. And it hurts me, seeing us drifting apart" He had no answers to her questions. So he just stood up and intended to leave the room but Elena's sob stopped him.
