we fall in love till it hurts to bleeds and fades in time

"Aunt Katherine!" Ophelia ran to her aunt as she saw her walking in with her uncle Kol. Elena smiled and walked with her daughter, greeting her guests. Kol picked Ophelia up and little girl couldn't suppress her laugh. "You only missed aunt Kat? What a shame!" Ophelia started to laugh even louder as Kol started to tickle her.

Elena let out a chuckle and hugged her dearest friend as Katherine returned the hug. "It's been hard three months without you" Katherine smirked smugly but deep down she wanted to smile like a little child, knowing for the fist time someone was really valuing her for herself. "I am such a lifesaver, everyone knows that" Elena narrowed her eyes but her smiled did not fade.

They all walked to the kitchen where Elena was preparing dinner for their celebration. Just like every beginning of the autumn, they loved celebrating the end of the summer, or more like mourning it in a fun way. So since the year Ophelia was born, they were saying goodbye to the summer all together.

It was their thing, Elena, her family, Caroline, Alaric, Tyler, Bonnie and Damon; and finally the Gemini twins that were carried secretly into Carolines womb. Stefan was away, avoiding Elena and her family by all means. Her, her amazing life, her daughter, her lover, her friends and so his friends.

It was hurting him, seeing that everyone was able to move on but he was not. That Elena fell in love with someone, had his child, then fell out of love until she found it again. And he hated himself that he was never there for her when all of it happened because he was always blaming Elena.

He was blaming Elena for falling in love, not seeing how bad she needed someone's comfort when he left her all alone all because of revenge. It occurred him later, so late that he was in no position to apologize. "Elena?"

Elena shook her head, getting out of the dreaming session she had been going through a lot lately. Katherine frowned and walked to the door, not understanding why her friend was not able to open the door which probably run more than six times. Elena blinked fast three times and took a deep breath before looking around, everything look just like they should have looked like.

She felt an arm wrapping around her waist, she smiled as she felt his chin on her shoulder. "You look gorgeous" Elena smiled and placed her hands on his hands, watching her daughter walk around. "She is growing up so fast" Enzo chuckled softly before nodding. "She really is, we might even need new boots for her"

Elena turned to Enzo with shock and looked at him with wide open eyes. "I got her new boots three weeks ago, and you are saying it makes her feet uncomfortable?" Enzo nodded his head dramatically, making Elena laugh. "She grows up so fast, I am scared she will be leaving me soon"

"No one can ever leave you" Elena smiled but it was fake, someone left her before, someone she was madly in love with. So maybe that was why her and Ophelia had separation anxiety, they were each others' missing pieces. One was completing the other, and it was not surprising when you think about it. Elena had her daughter when she was eighteen, feeling all alone and defenseless. So she raised a kid like her, feeling all alone whenever her mother was away so that Elena made sure her little girl would never leave her like her father. And she did it without even realizing it, so it did not help her to ease her anxiety when she thought about it. "I hope so"

"Elena! Come down stairs, Caroline and Damon are here" Elena chuckled along with Enzo and they walked downstairs with five years old Ophelia running behind them. Elena smiled and greeted her best friend. "Hey Care, where are the rest?" Caroline narrowed her eyes and hugged her best friend back. "Alaric was so determined about taking photos of the twins, they are out and doing a mini photoshoot" Elena laughed and parted the hug as Enzo hugged Damon and Bonnie one by one.
