They to arrived late to work the next day. At least later than they used to arrive. However, something was different about their arrival today and it was their joined hands.
Neither of them planned to arrive at work together, they just met at the entrance, but Neji took her hand in his and she didn't complain. How could she? He was her boyfriend.
Boyfriend.
Well, having a boyfriend didn't go the way she planned in her head (she especially didn't expect his kind of confession) but she guessed she loved the reality better than in her imaginations.
Neji Hyuga, the strange man who always read a newspaper at a corner in the office, was her boyfriend.
Their joined hands caused a huge stir at the surveyors' office and many people questioned her choice (they came to 'counsel' her privately) but there were a few that congratulated them without question. Among those, was a man named Kiba Inuzuka.
You do not know him because Tenten was too preoccupied with Neji to have the chance to introduce him in her POV but here he is, one of the only people the woman talked to at the office.
Kiba and Tenten were pretty close. Too close in fact, and it was as if Neji was just noticing it now. No. Actually he had noticed how close those two were but never gave them a second glance. Now that Tenten was his girlfriend though...
Neji suddenly found himself thinking about how long the both of them had been talking, how Kiba would place his hand on her shoulder or knee for more than two seconds or how they were laughing together. Not that Tenten was aware of his thoughts anyway.
Kiba and her were very good childhood friends so they were so close that many thought that they would up and date one day, especially with how much they mindlessly (unknowingly) flirted with each other. So yeah. Neji's jealousy was not too far fetched.
Jealous?! He isn't jealous! Why is this book making him sound like a yandere?! Pfft! Tenten and Kiba were just friends!
"You're going to the night market on Wednesday?" Neji's ears pricked up at Kiba's question to Tenten. Funny how he heard it in the first place because he was pretty far away from them.
"Yeah, you going?" He heard Tenten ask.
"Unfortunately no. Can you do me a favour? There is this shirt I really want to buy..." Kiba's words trailed because Tenten stopped him.
"Say no more, I know that shirt. I'd get it for you, don't worry." And that, everyone, was his kindhearted girlfriend.
"Thanks Tenten, you're a darling!" Kiba's words only caused Neji to fume because it only served to set his premonitions in stone.
Kiba. Liked. Tenten.
Too bad Mister, she belongs to him!
Wednesday came and passed, and it was Thursday. The day Kiba was supposed to collect his shirt. Tenten was sure she recognized the shirt Neji was wearing but she didn't know where...she was sure he wore a different shirt to work...
"Tenten!" Kiba tickled her side, making her jump a bit. She slapped him playfully and they shared a laugh. "Did you get it for me?" He asked.
It was then it clicked to Tenten. Neji wore the shirt she bought for Kiba. She had placed it on his table so Neji must've taken it while she was unaware. As if summoned, Neji chose that moment to walk by the both of them and met Kiba's confused gaze for a brief moment.
He gave Kiba the 'back off, she's mine' look before walking briskly away, the cloth's tag dangling behind him. Kiba did get the message though.
"That's my shirt, isn't it?" He asked knowingly.
"Yup."

Aaah, I can never get enough of jealous Neji. He strikes me as a possessive person, really, and a coded person as well. I like it!
