"I can't believe Fury isn't letting us return home!"

"Calm down Clint, it's just for a day or two."

"Well that's great. Where are we supposed to stay? Should we camp because we are stuck in the middle of Malibu!"

"Steve, Clint, shut up." Nat was tired of their constant squabbling.

"For once I agree with Romanoff. To answer your question though, I know a place we can lay low for a day." Tony butted into their conversation.

Bruce sighed, "We're going to have to walk, aren't we?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I though this place was, you know, destroyed." Natasha monotonously stated.

"What, you didn't expect me to rebuild?"

"I didn't think you would bother since you and Pepper are in New York now."

Tony shrugged in response and opened the door. He didn't see anyone in the common area so he went to look around the house.

Rest of the avengers stood in the kitchen, whiling off time.

"Do you think the Man of Iron has pop tarts?"

"Thor, don't ransack Tony's pantry." Steve chided.

"I'm hungr-," Thor's whining was cut off by Natasha's hand. She looked around the room and placed a finger to her lips to silence them, then pulled out her gun. Now everyone heard the approaching footsteps and readied their defense measures.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You entered the house and heard noises, assuming it was your friend who was due over you didn't worry much. Imagine your surprise when you walked into the kitchen and you suddenly had 4 weapons pointed at you.

You put your arms in the air halfheartedly.

"Who are you?"

"That doesn't matter, what does is why are the Avengers in my kitchen?"

The very scary black widow scowled and Captain America said, "You're breaking and entering."

"Ookay Mr. Rogers but I'm not sure having a key and living here is exactly 'breaking and entering'."

"Everyone, just calm down." Bruce Banner spoke from his seat on the island.

"Oh my god Dr. Banner, it's such a pleasure. I've read all of your work."

"What?"

You nodded enthusiastically, "Oh yeah, it took me a while to understand it it the second I did, it just clicked."

"Right that's lovely and all but that still doesn't answer anything."

Tony entered the room holding a file of papers. Your face dropped, uninterested, flat. "That is my daughter and I can't let you shoot her."

Five shocked faces swiveled in your direction, you just shrugged as if to say 'I have no idea either' and walked into the kitchen to get a bagel.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony had left after the dinner, you had been forced to have with them. That left you alone with the questions. Most of them were voiced by Clint but you could see them on everyone's expressions.

"So you live here alone?"

You nodded.

"If you didn't want to come to New York then why didn't you go to a boarding school?"

"For the record, the invitation just was never extended to me. And I did go to boarding school but I also took online courses during those years to complete my high school credits."

That made Clint go quiet, unfortunately it sparked some questions in Bruce. "So you're a genius."

You chuckled bitterly because everyone just automatically assumed, "Oh no Dr. Banner, I spent as much time you would on real classes in high school except in the nighttime. "

"How are you Tony's though, you're so well mannere-" Steve was cut off by Tony stomping into the room. He stopped in front of you and looked furious.

"When we go back to New York tomorrow, you're coming with us."
