"i really want a piece of bacon," ameera whined, looking out the window. i grimaced, shaking my head. "ew." her head snapped towards me. "you can read my mind?" she gasped, holding her chest. i looked at her quizzically. "no? you said it out loud.." she let out a sigh of relief, slumping in her chair.
"i didn't mean to say that out loud." she laughed, embarrassed. "you're so weird," i joked with her and she nodded, accepting it. "you're just gonna accept it?" i asked, suspiciously.
she smiled at me charmingly, "yeah, let's see if you get any kisses or not." she said, titling her head up and putting a piece of pancake in her mouth. "no no, that's not fair." i objected, pointing my fork at her. she shrugged. "it's out of my hands now."
"so you're really not gonna kiss me?" i asked with a pout. she shook her head, putting a strawberry in her mouth. "but babe.." i tested out a pet name on her and her eyes snapped to mine. she smiled a little and i smirked, thinking it worked before she looked back to her plate.
she shook her head again, her smile still huge. "can i get a kiss? and can you make it last forever?" i started singing kali uchis' song. she joined in, "i said im 'bout to go to war and i don't know if imma see you again." she sang back to me, perfectly.
"you can sing?" what the fuck can't she do? she rolled her eyes, "i can't sing. that was just a good moment." she said and i shook my head this time. "no. sing me something." i demanded, sitting back in my chair. she looked me up and down before asking, "what song?"
"how aboutt-" i stared and she cut me off, "oooh! i know! what about 'my future'?" she suggested and i smiled. "yes."
"okay, but don't judge me! my dads wife always used to make fun of my singing." she pointed at me and i nodded. "im not judging, baby. let me hear you." she put her hands over her face nervously and i leaned over and pulled them down, pecking her lips. "don't be scared, it's just me."
she nodded and took a deep breath, closing her eyes, starting to sing.
"i can't seem to focus and you don't seem to notice, im not here.
im just a mirror. cant you hear me?
im not coming home do you understand?
ive changed my plans cause im in love with my future."my heart beat like crazy in my chest when her low, melodic voice hit me. she hit the runs that i struggled to hit effortlessly. and her pitch? it was literally perfect. even though her voice was kind of deep, she sang gently. her voice didn't shake at all, unless she wanted it to.
"holy shit." i interrupted her by accident. she opened her eyes, examining my face and smiling shyly. "oh my god. i think i died and woke up in heaven." she giggled, "it wasn't even that good." she shook her head.
"no it wasn't that good, it was that fucking amazing!" i exclaimed, jumping up from my chair and going over to kiss her. "im obsessed already," i mumbled in between kisses.

after breakfast, ameera and i ended back out in the pool. it was blazing hot today and ameera didn't feel like being anywhere but the water.
"jesus fuck, im melting." ameera panted, moving over to the edge of the pool. "it's not even that hot." i said, flipping my hair. "im from new york where we get seasons babe, and ive never been good with the heat." she said and i nodded.
