billie
i tossed and turned in my bed, squeezing my pillow tight. i looked through the slightly opened curtains and sighed at the sight of the moon. i miss her. it's only been a month and i miss her so bad. i bought her perfume and i spray it all over my bed so it smells like her but it just made me miss her even more.
i grabbed my phone off of my bedside table and decided not to text ameera and wake her up. school has been kicking her ass and she barely sleeps as it is. i got out of bed, slipping on some sweatpants and a hoodie, grabbing my keys and walking out of my apartment. i gotta show her here one day.
i grabbed my water bottle and filled it up, grabbing the leash and attaching it to sharks collar, making him wake up. "come on sharky, let's go see pepper." i said, causing him to wake up fully. i pet him quickly and grabbed my keys.
i put him in the passenger seat and rolled down the windows, turning up the music. 3:15 am read on the clock and i drove fast down the mainly empty highway.
when we pulled up to fins house, i went around the back and saw that his bedroom window was open on the second floor. i grabbed a pebble from by their pool and threw it inside, hoping it would hit something. about 5 pebbles later, finneas stuck his head out the window, sleep painted across his face.
i beamed a huge smile at him and he scoffed, pulling his head back in. he opened the back door for me and i smiled at his messy ginger hair. "what's up, bil?" he asked, completely tired of me.
"i couldn't sleep." i said and he blinked at me blankly.
"and some of us would like to get all of our hours..." he deadpanned and i threw my hands up in defense. "i brought a puppy!" i smiled at him again and he leaned down to greet shark.
"where do you wanna write?" he asked and i pointed to their kitchen. "here, and can we eat some ice cream?" i asked, lighting a candle and he nodded, going for the freezer.
i pulled out my notebook and pencil, looking in the bottom cabinet for dog treats. "here you go, buddy. over here." i led him to the carpet and let him do whatever he wanted.
"so what did you have in mind?" he asked, sliding the bowl and spoon in my direction. "well, i wanna write about ameera. i want to get the song out asap." i said and he raised an eyebrow.
"what do you mean asap?"
"i mean, within months." i said and he sighed. "you're the hastiest person i know." he said and i furrowed my eyebrows. "i just have a feeling this time."
"i like ameera for you. like a lot. but you always have a feeling billie.." he said and i shook my head, thinking about all of my failed past relationships. "okay and i have a feeling this time and it's not wrong." i said shrugging.
he looked at me for a second, i could tell he didn't believe me but then he dropped it. "okay so what did you have?" he asked and i read off my lyrics.
"we met on a whim
bet you thought you wouldn't win
our connection it was quick,
started with a view and a flickwho could've thought i could win like this,
could fucking feel like this
on this hopeless romantic shitand then a run here im thinking..." i said and he nodded, the wheels in his head already turning.
"are you thinking upbeat or no?"
"a mix? kinda like my future." i said, scooping ice cream into my mouth. "what you have is good so far, let's see how we can add more."
in the process of writing, the sun had risen and birds chirped ridiculously loud. claudia dredged across the kitchen, jumping when she saw us sitting at the island. "good morning you two, what the hell."
