I bury my face in my hands as the tears begin to flow and my body convulses as I sob loudly. I can only concentrate on the anger I feel, anger at my mother for leaving, for writing this. Angry at whomever left it here in hopes of hurting me. And I'm angry at myself. I am different. I drove her away. I am the reason she wrote this. I am the reason she left my dad heartbroken.
As I begin to get my breathing under control I feel a large hand rest on the small of my back. Just from the sensation of calm that it sends through me I know it is Reeves. I slowly lean back into his hard, chiseled chest as he gently wraps his arms around my waist. "What's wrong, babe?" He asks, his rough, deep voice barely above a whisper.
I take a deep breath and hand him back the letter that was sitting in front of me on the table. He takes a few moments to read it before he quickly stands up, turns around, and slams his fist into the wall. I jump in surprise before I slowly stand up and gently approach him, setting my hand on his elbow. He slowly turns around to face me, his face red in anger. "Babe, please calm down. We can figure this out. I'm alright, you should be too."
"This is not alright!" He shouts, startling me as I quickly step away from him. "It is not alright for anyone to think they can insult, threaten, or harm my mate in anyway. Whether it be your mother or some random girl who is jealous. We are going to get to the bottom of this." H says, calming down as he takes a careful step toward me.
I sigh in pleasure as Reeves caresses my cheek with his palm, placing his other hand on my hip as he gently pulls me closer to him. I momentarily forget all of my worries, and my anger, and my pain, as I drape my arms over his shoulders, tangling my fingers into the curls at the base of his neck. He gently presses a tentative kiss to my lips, it starts so innocent and quickly becomes more passionate. He licks my bottom lip, requesting entry. I part my lips enough for him to gain entry as his tongue begins to dance with mine. At some point I jump up and wrap my legs around his waist and Reeves supports me, his hands resting on my butt.
After a few minutes I press my hands against his chest and pull my lips away, stopping us from going far enough that we will regret it. "What are we going to do about this?" I ask, my voice barely a whisper as I gesture my hands to the letter on the bed.
"I have already alerted my warriors via the mind link of what has happened, though I omitted your father in brother. There is no need to give them unnecessary heart or give them false hope of her return. I have a meeting later this evening for debriefing with my men on any and all people who entered this house today, at what time they did it, how they entered, and when they left."
I nod and Reeves gently sets me down on the edge of my bed and he sits next tome, wrapping his arm around my waist and drawing me to his side. I lean my head on his shoulder as he nuzzles his face into my hair, and I giggle as I feel him inhale my scent. "What do I smell like to you?" I ask quietly.
"Like lavender and mint and a bit like maple."He says pulling away from me, a small grin on his face. He suddenly stands up and offers his and to me. "Come on, babe. Lets go out to a nice dinner." I stand up and go to the closet, quickly changing into a short green dress before following Reeves out of the house and to the car. He helps me into the car, kissing my cheek before closing my door, getting in the driver side, starting the car, and driving off toward the nearest human city.
