Chapter 15

   My face spreads into a grin as I nod my head rapidly, I can feel Reeves's body shake next to as he chuckles at my reaction. I giggle a bit and snuggle into his side, laying my head on his shoulder as Patrick begins the game.

        "So Della, what was it like growing up Reeves's pack?" Patrick begins, wrapping his muscular arms around Sylvia's waist as he grins, obviously most comfortable with his mate close to him.

        I lean into Reeves, inhaling his scent as I do so. "It wasn't too bad, Reeves didn't take over the pack until about 5 years ago, when I was 13. So really I grew up when his father alpha. But I had a pretty decent childhood, my dad was a highly ranked warrior and as was my brother when he came of age. It was just the three of us for as long as I can remember and of course having two older men to watch over me I was a bit sheltered. But while they were away and occupied I found company in my friends Corrine and Axel. So I'd say my childhood was pretty great." I finish and attempt to smile but I fail, thinking about Axel puts a slight damper on my mood.

        I can tell Reeves notices as he tightens his arm around my waist, I smile at how protective and loving he is as I give him a small peck to reassure him that everything is alright. He attempts to deepen the kiss but I pull back, not wanting to make his sister and her mate uncomfortable in their own home.

        I take a breath and pull away from Reeves, looking back over to Sylvia and Patrick. "Alright so it's my turn now. So Sylvia how did you meet-" Before I can finish my question the front door whips open and Patrick and Sylvia immediately stand up, our little game coming to an abrupt halt.

        The women who walked in is very short and muscular, not slim but not fat. She hunches over, hands on her knees as she attempts to catch her breath. Once her heart beat slows she stands up and begins to speak, ignoring Reeves and I and speaking directly to Sylvia and Patrick who have eyes on her. "There is a rogue of the west border, I need the two of you to come with me so we can decide what to do with him. You two can accompany us if you wish." She says the last part to us and Reeves nods his head, following the three of them out the front door with me in tow.

        I follow them to the edge of the woods and Sylvia and I duck behind separate trees from the boys and quickly strip, tie our clothes around our ankles, and the shift, running off toward the west, following the men. A few minutes later we come to a screeching halt in a clearing.

        I take in the scene in front of me. There is a medium sized wolf that is auburn in front of me and he surrounded by various other creatures including Sylvia in her panda form, Patrick as a lion whose orange mane matches his own hair color, and Reeves in the form of his dark brown wolf. I step to Reeves side, trying to get a look at the scene. He attempts to push me away with his much larger canine form but before he can a growl rips through me.

        With my lithe form I dodge Reeves and leap in front of the cowering male wolf. I recognized him immediately, it was the man who had accepted me no matter the circumstances. The man behind me is my best friend and I will protect him no matter what. The man behind me is Axel.

        Reeves nods in understanding and we all take a few steps back, each of us taking a tree and shifting back, changing into clothing before stepping back into the clearing. I take a step toward Axel but before I could get close enough to speak a growl rips through the clearing.

        Out of the woods emerges a tall women with a curvy form and long blond hair and brown eyes. It takes be a moment to realize that the growl came from this women as she bares her teeth at me. I hear Axel gasp behind me as the young women's words echo through the clearing. "Mine. Mate."
