"I hope you know my sister's underage!"

So this is what I return to?

"Sorry, can you say that again? I think I misheard you."

I stare down at the blonde teammate of mine, and she's clearly ticked off.

She and I have had a very rollercoaster-like relationship. She was kind of a bitch before, but once she moved on, we stuck to playful teasing.

But now she's absurdly claiming something. At least, that's what it seems like.

"Ruby is only 16. She came to this school 2 years early. So don't go around kissing underage girls!"

"I'd like to say two things... One, you do realize Ruby was the one who kissed me, right?"

"She said she did, but even if that were the case, it's your responsibility as an adult to reject her advances."

"I agree that, were I 18, I should have stopped her. However, I'm only 17."

"A likely- wait what?"

"Yes. I still have half a year before I'm an adult."

Yang lets out a nervous drop of sweat.

"Dammit... Did I really just..."

Yang looks down, defeated, so I speak up.

"I don't entirely blame you, Yang, really... If you're willing to admit to your mistake, I'm not gonna think much of it. She's your baby sister, and I look like I'm 19 at least."

After verbally giving Yang the benefit of the doubt, she sighs once. It seems her pride isn't so toxic as to deny her own wrongdoings.

"Yeah, sorry... I'm also kinda not sure how to react, because this is the first time Ruby's ever been interested in a boy for reasons that don't involve his weapon."

I shut my mouth tightly. Now would be the worst time to make a "that's what she said" joke.

"But fine, then. If you treat Ruby well, I won't say anything... But try to keep the smooching for alone time."

"Well, we aren't even dating yet, so... You don't have to worry about that."

Yang raises an eyebrow. "Really?"

I nod. Yang looks down and narrows her eyes as she speaks.

"I'm gonna have to lecture Ruby on not kissing people she isn't dating..."

Teasing time.

"You know that from experience?"

"You're really funny! Fuck you."

Yang flips me off as she leaves, and I laugh.

"Back to normal now..."

I glance around the dorm room I'm alone in. It's surprising there's no one else here.

A sniffle can be heard from underneath one of the beds, so I get on my knees and check beneath it.

"Ahhhh I don't want a Yang lecture!"

Ruby is crying at the fear of a future Yang talk, causing me to chuckle.

"Spying on our conversation? Didn't realize you were such a sneak."

"I was just... Eavesdropping."

Ruby mumbles an excuse.

"Eavesdropping would be you sitting on the bed in clear view and happening to listen to the conversation. You're clearly spying... Are you a closet gossip?"

"No way! I hate gossip..."

"You and me both."

Ruby, having shaken off her momentary fear of her sister's advice, is finally back to being her chipper self.

"Thanks for that, by the way."

I tap my cheek, and she looks away, embarrassed.

"Don't tease me..."

"First kiss? Ooooooh. I think you like me."

"No way! Only a weirdo would crush on you."

I feign heartbreak, overdramatizing my words.

"Oh how your words wound me... I may never love again!"

Ruby stifles a giggle. "Don't be weird..."

I pat her head once.

"I used to hate when people would pat my head..."

I quickly remove my hand. "Ah, really?"

"Nono! It's fine! When everyone else did it, it felt like they were treating me like a child."

She puts her head beneath my hand, much like an attention-seeking cat would.

"But you're not treating me like a kid."

I smile, scratching her head jokingly.

Ruby doesn't realize I'm being ironic, and practically begins purring.

"How the hell...?"

I sigh, moving my hand down and lifting up her chin.

I suddenly think about what it is I'm going to do, and my face flushes up a bit. Am I really the one getting red now? I'm supposed to be bold.

I take a deep breath in and kiss her cheek.

"Th-there... Now we're even..."

I had immediately turned around the moment my lips left her cheek, and she giggles.

"Awwww, are you nervous?~"

Now it's her turn to tease me.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about..."

Ruby giggles more.

"Thank you for that."

She pokes the spot I kissed her on, and I hide a smile.

I really hope you guys don't mind a few non-plot and non-action related shiz every here and there. I don't want Ruby and (Y/N)'s relationship to feel too undeveloped.
