When the boys had reached the steps leading up to the Great Hall, Harry turned to Draco.
“Have you ever been in the Gryffindor common room? I know I’ve been in the Slytherin common room several times, but I’ve wondered if you’ve ever been up to our tower.” Harry asked the blond.
Draco halted. “Several times? You’ve been in our common room several times? I was under the impression that last night was the first time you’d ever seen the Slytherin dungeons.”
Harry smiled wickedly. ‘Well, back in second year when everyone was wondering who the heir to Slytherin was, we thought it was you.”
“Me? The heir of Slytherin. Ha!” Draco laughed and began to walk with Harry again as the raven haired lad continued.
“It was Hermione’s idea, actually. She brewed up a Polyjuice potion and it took about a month. When it was ready Ron and me just knocked out Crabbe and Goyle with some sleeping draught, took a few of their hairs and drank the potion and followed you down into Slytherin common room. I won’t ever forget being Greg Goyle. Ack! It was awful.” With a laugh, Harry continued. “Then you told us that you had no idea who the true heir was. We barely made it out of there before we turned back into ourselves.”
“You? You were Goyle. And I have kissed you. Yeauuuulk! Harry don’t take this personally, but kissing you won’t ever be the same after this information.” Draco said with a playful sickened look on his face. Harry just smiled and grabbed Draco’s hand as they went thru winding corridors to end up in front of the Fat Lady’s portrait.
“Harry Potter,” Harry said. The Fat Lady just nodded and opened the portrait.
Draco raised an eyebrow and shook his head at Harry’s choice of password. Harry just shrugged as Draco followed him thru the portrait hole. Harry backed off and let Draco look around the large cozy room. Draco walked around to look at the aged tapestries and portraits of all the famous Gryffindors lining the walls. He reached out to touch the large curtain emblazoned with the Gryffindor crest. He swept his hand over the back of the largest couch which faced the huge stone fireplace. The room smelled faintly of antique wood and spice.
“Very nice, Potter.” Draco said making his way over to the large window. “Sometimes I wish there were windows in the Dungeons, but that’s technically impossible. But this is a great view,” Draco said as his gaze swept over the landscape of the grounds and the treetops of the dark forest. The heavy rain was sheeting and with the wind blowing it was almost surreal.
Harry’s eyes never left Draco’s body. “Yes, it’s lovely. Perfect, really.”
Draco’s head snapped back to catch Harry’s survey of his body. With almost a solemn tone, he said “What about your room?”
“This way,” Harry led the way up the two circling staircases to stop at the thick oak door. Harry opened the door and stepped inside with Draco following. Again, Harry just stood to watch Draco as he let his eyes take in everything about the room. Spotting the few pictures on his side table, Draco came to Harry’s bed. Draco rolled and flopped down on Harry’s bed and Harry just smiled at him. “Comfortable?”
“Well, it’s not as large or soft as my own, but I guess I could get used to it.” Draco patted the empty slice of bed beside him. Harry joined in and lay down with his head on the pillow to face Draco as Draco shifted to rest his head on his own bent arm with his hand behind his head. For a long moment they just looked at each other. Their hands met and they entwined their fingers and Draco brought their hands up to his chest. The wind and rain continued to swirl and wreak havoc on the outside. The pitter pat of rain was the only sound in the room. They lay for a long time just looking at each other. Finding a solace in each other’s eyes.
