Morning. School. Ugh. Draco thought as he put on his shoes. He and Harry were dressed in their school robes and they both stopped to look at the other. It was very odd. Last time they’d seen each other in school robes they were enemies.
“Why do I get this sudden urge to beat the hell out of you when I see you in a Gryffindor robe?” Draco drawled.
“Old habits are hard to break, I guess,” Harry said as they looked at one another and smiled.
“You do look different in robes, though. I can’t get over it,” Draco said shaking his head.
“Must be that you are used to seeing me naked,” Harry teased as they laughed.
They were completely packed and had shrunk their things and placed them appropriately in their pockets. They looked about their rooms in a last glance. Harry knew he’d be back. They left and went downstairs to the nook for breakfast where they found Dumbledore already sitting reading the Daily Prophet.
“Good morning,” Harry said as he gave Albus a quick peck on his cheek before taking his seat. Draco just stood and looked at Dumbledore who looked at Draco oddly. Draco continued to stare at the old man. Albus put down the paper and held open his arms to Draco who just stood for a moment before hugging him quickly and taking his own seat. Harry smiled at them both and began to eat.
Severus came through the door in his school robes and Harry groaned loudly.
“I hate you in that,” Harry said. “It’s just so….not right.”
“What?” Severus said as he looked down on his black school robes. “I always wear this when I am teaching.”
“I know. But it’s not really you. You should wear something….different,” Harry said shoveling eggs into his mouth. “I love eggs.”
“Yeah. I think so too. That outfit is not really you,” Draco drawled while eating bacon.
“This is appropriate teaching attire,” Severus said as he sat and poured coffee. “Besides, I don’t have anything else to wear.”
Draco and Harry exchanged glances. A thousand thoughts ran through their minds, everything from wearing hosiery to buying him a new outfit to pay him back for the CDs he let them buy. They grinned evilly. They’d plan that for later. Snape saw the exchange of glances.
“Don’t start. It’s too early in the morning for me to deal with you two.”
“What? We didn’t say anything,” Draco shoveled eggs into his own mouth and eyed Severus knowingly. Severus narrowed his eyes and glared at them with the official ‘I’ll-kill-you-if-you-so-much-as-breathe’ look appropriately named ‘Snape look number nine.’
“I think you practice doing that,” Harry said.
“Doing what?” Severus asked as he ate his toast.
“Look number nine,” Harry spouted knowing Snape had no idea.
“What are you talking about?” Severus asked.
“Look number nine. All the students have classified all the looks you give. That one was number nine. You have thirty four already. Didn’t you know?” Harry laughed with a mouth full of bacon and toast. “And you say I never pay attention in class.” Draco and Dumbledore joined in Harry’s laugh.
“Shut up, Potter. And you, too, Malfoy.”
“Oh, yes. Back to spitting our surnames to us again. First day of school and all, I guess you need to practice that again, too,” Draco teased. Snape grinned evilly at the pair.
