After the next day with a terrible hangover, things went back on schedule as usual. Classes, meals and leisure time all were great. Harry had his first voice lesson with Sara. It was decided that at Christmas, the choir would sing and Harry would sing a solo, much to his complaining. He relented when Sara turned on the guilt that he’d bested her in their bet at the Slytherin party. Harry went through all the Christmas music and with much labor, chose the appropriate song. There was a plan in Harry’s head and he’d chosen this song for many reasons.
Severus scolded the Slytherins for the spiked punch, but no house points were taken. All the Slytherins were searching for the culprit of the incident, but nobody was speaking. Everyone suspected Nott, but couldn’t prove anything so it was dropped.
Harry and Draco had their first week of class with the DADA. The first years were terrified of Harry. With some quick thinking, Harry pushed all the desks to the side of the room and sat in the floor with them and let them all touch his hands to show that he was just like them. He let the first class just be a question and answer class. The first years wanted to know all about Voldemort and everything Harry had ever done. They knew much more about him than he expected. They questioned Draco, too. After the week was up, all the first years could cast a full stun and block a full stun. Lupin was thrilled at their success. The class was soon looking forward to the next week that they taught.
The upper level DADA students were a bit more of a challenge, but everyone had a great time learning blocking and trying to best Harry and Draco on a daily basis for the week. The highest level students were learning the ‘patronus’ charm. A few were interested in wandless magic, and were having a bit of success. To his surprise, Millicent asked Harry to volley one afternoon and they did. Millicent was a great volleyer and her spells were all at her full strength. Harry showed her many things and again, to his surprise, she was a fast learner and they soon made up somewhat. There was a bit of tension with her, but Harry was patient.
Harry knew Draco’s birthday was on Halloween, which was soon approaching in a week. One evening, it was just after the evening meal.
“Hey, Malcolm! Wait up!” Harry said in the hallway. Malcolm turned and waited on Harry.
“What’s up, Harry?” Malcolm droned.
“I need some advice. Draco’s birthday is next week on Halloween. What do you think he’d like as a gift from me? I’ve asked Ron and Hermione, but we have no ideas. Draco has everything. What could I give him?” Harry asked eagerly looking to see if Draco was around witnessing the conversation.
“Well, you know he just wants you, Harry. Just wear a bow and a smile and give yourself,” Malcolm laughed.
“I plan on giving him that, too, Malcolm, but I wanted to give him a proper gift. Any suggestions?” Harry was beginning to be desperate.
“Well, Draco doesn’t need anything material. He’s always wanted to fly or be invisible. Does that help?” Malcolm said. Harry thought for a moment and had an idea.
“Yeah! That does really help! Thanks!” Harry gave him a high five and they walked away. It was after the evening meal and Draco was in the library. Harry felt around the school with his mind and located Dumbledore in the hospital wing. Harry was a bit concerned and decided to check it out. Harry opened the door to see Albus lying on the hospital bed and immediately a panic set in. Harry ran over and sat on the side of the bed.
