He stood up straight and took a step forward, closing the small space between us. I could smell his cologne. It smelled fresh and minty, my favourite scent. He leaned in closer and closer to my face; so close that I could feel his breath on my skin. Our faces were now only a centimeter apart. I watched his lips slowly open. I remained still and closed my eyes. What's he doing?! My skin tingled as I felt his cool breath on my jawline. My body tensed up all of a sudden.
"You look mighty fine today." He whispered in my ear. My body relaxed by a bit. Relief and disappointment washed over me, both at once.
"Thanks." I replied, fighting back a huge sigh.
I opened my eyes to see him looking at me and now staring right into my eyes with smirk on his face. I don't get it, why was he smirking? Wait. Was he teasing me just then? I stared at his brown eyes, trying to figure out what he was on to. Does he like me? Or is he just playing around with the geeky girl? Oh, pft, who cares? A hottie might actually like me!
"See you at lunch?" He asked, lifting an eyebrow. I smiled at him and nodded my head. "See you then."
"Later."
He took a step forward, beside me, and walked to where my back was. I turned and watched him leave. His posture was perfect and he looked like a super model strutting his way down a catwalk instead of a school hallway. He definitely had what it took to be a model. If he was one, i would have every single poster of him up in my room.
I was snapped back to life when the loud, annoying noise of the school bell rang and also startled me. I grabbed my backpack and ran to class as fast as I could in my three inch wedges. I arrived my class before the late bell rang. I took my seat and set out my books. My classmates didn't quiet down until our teacher came in the room.
Lunch @ Northern Light High School
I looked around for a place to sit, quickly, before I lost my balance and my cup of ice tea spills and I get humiliated in front of the whole junior year class. Wow, my imagination is going pretty wild. I wove through the huge crowd. I spotted a free two-seat table, just like the table from yesterday. I was about to walk to that direction, until I heard my name being called.
"Venus! Over here!"
I turned to where I had heard the voice. It had been Xander. He was sitting with his "cool" friends at the regular "cool" table with his hand up an waving. Some of his "cool" friends looked at me when he waved me over, while some continued on like they never heard anything. I started walking to the "cool" table. I stopped right in front of Xander for a moment, giving him a look that said "where do I sit?". He patted the free seat next to him. I put my tray down onto the table and took my seat beside Xander.
"Guys, this is my friend, Venus." Xander introduced me to everyone.
"Hey." I greeted. They replied with warm greetings and compliments. Most of the compliments were about my dress from the girls. Almost everyone seemed friendly.
"Venus, this is...” Xander started calling out all their names, gesturing as he said each one. "...And that's Justine." He said last, gesturing to the girl who had been giving me the cold mood. Odd, as soon as Xander looked at her, she seemed all nice and warm. What the -
"Hi, nice to meet you.” Justine said, cutting of my thoughts. She sent me a cute smile.
"Hey, it’s nice to meet all of you.” I said, looking at each of them and smiling. I had already forgotten their names. I wasn't always that good at memory anyways.
