-Blair pov-

"Today you have your first job," Jace took a bite of his toast.

"What?" I lifted my head.

Today, like every other morning for the past two weeks Jace has made me sit by him at breakfast.

He smirked. "Blair, everyone has to pull their weight around here."

I avoided his stare. "But I don't want to be here."

In the last two weeks I have gotten much braver. Ivy was right, the only way to survive around here was too act like you're tough, and put up a mask that says you're not scared.

He frowned. "I don't care, you can't just have free reign of the place and not help out at all."

I have also been exploring the wear-house it's huge and confusing as hell. In the afternoon I usually hang out with Freya, and the nights...well, they're saved for Ethan.

The day we kissed for the first time he came to visit me after dark. One thing led to another and now he comes almost every night. It doesn't always lead to sex. Most of the time we just talk.

I've never had someone to talk to. Bryce has been through everything with me, and we had a mutual understanding to never bring stuff up. Malory wasn't easy to talk to, she was too busy talking about herself.

But with Ethan it was easy to open up about my past. About what I've been through. He opened up to me as well. Neither of us have had it easy.

"Fine, as long as I won't be hurt, or hurt anyone else." I concluded, pushing around my food.

Jace smirked again. "I wouldn't dream of hurting you sweetheart..." He reached out to push a piece of my hair behind my ear, but I pulled away.

He cleared his throat, annoyed. "Go back to your room, I'll send Dolan to get you in a little bit."

I quickly walked back to my room. And sat down on my bed, patiently waiting for Ethan. After 10 minutes I heard a knock on my door, and Ethan came in.

I got up and ran over to him, he hugged me tightly.

"Jace said I had my first job today..." I mumbled.

He pulled away from our embrace. "I know, I talked to him."

"What did he say? I don't want to—."

Ethan cut me off. "I got him to reconsider and have you do training instead."

I crossed my arms. "And how is that the better option?"

He smirked. "Well for starters, I'll be training you."

"Really? Just you and me?" I asked, really hoping he would say yes.

His smiled faded. "Sadly no, I teach a class and you'll join us today."

"Oh...okay." I softly smiled.

He chuckled, and pushed a piece of my hair behind me ear. "Two things before we leave, one stay away from the guys, they're all cocky and rude. And two, make sure to keep our relationship strictly professional."

I sighed. "I know."

"Let's go."

He lead me to the other side of the wear-house, where all of the gang stuff is done. That's where they kept me when Jace first kidnapped me.

We walked into a big well-lit room with various gym equipment and weapons lying around. Six guys and two girls were standing in the middle of the room talking to each other. When they saw us walk in they immediately stopped talking.

Ethan cleared his throat. "This is Blair, she'll be joining us from now on."

They all nodded, eyeing me up and down.

Ethan walked over to a table along the wall, picking up a piece of paper and reading what was written on it.

His eyebrows furrowed and he scoffed.

I found myself wanted to go over to him and see if everything was okay, but I realized that would be very unprofessional.

Eventually he set the paper down and turned to face us. "Apparently Jace wants us to do shooting practice today."

One of the guys spoke up. "I thought you said we'll start shooting after this week."

Ethan nodded. "I did say that, but plans change..." His voice drifted off, he looked directly at me then turned back toward everyone else. "So we're doing shooting today."

We all followed him out of the room, going to the shooting range.

I had a suspicious feeling that something was not right.

-Ethan pov-

This wasn't supposed to happen. Jace isn't allowed to tell me how to run my class. But he did.

I did what he said, took them to the shooting range and showed everyone how to hold the gun and aim, etc.

Surprisingly they were all naturals, including Blair.

I could tell she was a little tense and overwhelmed. But she still managed to have one of the best shots in the class.

It was currently 2:43 in the morning and I was still awake due to the fact that my mind wouldn't stop.

I finally decided to get out of bed and grab a glass of water.

I opened my bedroom door to find Grayson sitting on the couch in our sitting room.

He looked up at me. "Can't sleep?"

"Yeah. To much on my mind."

I sat down next to him.

After a few seconds of silence he cleared his throat. "Something strange is going on around here."

I nodded. "I think so too."

"What did your class do today?" He asked.

"Jace made me start shooting practice." I answered.

He nodded. "That's what I figured."

I sat up. "What do you mean?"

He swallowed and looked down at his feet.

"Grayson, what do you know?"

He looked back up at me. "I think they're getting us ready to attack Toxin."
