"Time doesn't heal pain.
It only teaches us to live with it."~~~~~~
The moment he had seen you, Xiao's mind went blank. Back then, Rex Lapis had told him that you had died yet there you were in front of him. He wanted to go and grab you from Aether's arms but something was stopping him. It was the face of confusion that you had made when he called out your name. The only conclusion that logically came to him was that you had no clue who he was. Unfortunately, his conclusion was correct.
"How do you know me?" You asked the adeptus.
Xiao continued to back away, his head shaking as if he was in another world. He just couldn't believe his eyes. You shouldn't be there yet, there you were in another man's arms, your silky hair the same length that he remembered, your eyes the same shine that he recalled, you face the same smile that he loved.
How was that possible?
"Stay away from me," Xiao shouted, his mind in shambles. "Please just stay away from me."
Although he always wished that he would see you again, he knew that could never happen. After all, someone coming back to life just isn't possible. The adeptus had no idea how to react. He wanted to grab you away from the travelers arms but he also wanted to run away and just think of this moment as a dream that he had. These conflicting feelings left him broken. He had thought he was better but now that you had appeared, he didn't know anymore.
"Who are you?" You asked him, your voice the same gentle tone that he loved to hear.
"There's no way," Xiao scoffed to himself as he stood up. "There's no way."
You tilted you head in confusion as you wondered what was going on through the mind of the boy. Something in you had wanted to go hug him but the fact that you didn't know him held you back from running to give the stranger a hug. You didn't know him, right?
"Xiao what's wrong?" Paimon questioned.
"What's going on Xiao," Aether added.
"Stay away from me," Xiao growled.
Turning his body, he walked away in silence. His spear disappeared from his hand and reappeared behind his back as he continued to walk away from you and the two others.
You let yourself out of Aether's arms to his surprise and quickly ran up to the man that was leaving and grabbed his wrist. Like before, for some reason, you couldn't help but want to stop Xiao from leaving. The moment that you had touched him, you felt a spark of some sorts travel through you body. It felt so familiar yet so unexpected. You definitely had no idea what in the world was going on.
"What do you want?" Xiao's voice had softened after you touched him.
"Who are you?" You asked again, still wondering who the man that had known your name was.
After a while of hesitation, he replied, "I am Adeptus Xiao, the conquer of demons."
"How do you know me?" You asked another question.
"You reminded me of someone from my past," the sighed. "Nothing more, nothing less."
After his response, he suddenly disappeared leaving only a smoke of black dust in his trace. That was a very unusual situation. Very unusual it was.
"Are you okay, y/n?" Paimon asked, her face full of concern. "That guy didn't do anything to you right."
You nodded and smiled as you looked up at the sky. You had completely forgotten that you were with Aether and Paimon during your very short conversation with the adeptus. It was like everything had disappeared when you and Xiao talked.
When he had left, there was an emptiness in your heart that you had never felt before. It was weird.
"Y/n, what happened? Your crying," Aether told you.
Putting your hand to your face, you felt you cheeks and was met by something wet. Realizing this, you felt tears falling from your eyes. Falling to your knees, you questioned all that was happening. You had never felt this way, a sadness that stuck to you like a leech. A sadness that appeared when the stranger known as Xiao walked away.
You could feel warm arms envelop you as you turned your face towards the chest of the one that was hugging you. The tears that had fallen couldn't seem to be stopped and you continued to sob on Aether's chest.
Just what were these feelings?
~~~~~~
Xiao watched you from a distance hugging and sobbing on the traveler that he had once assisted. He couldn't help but feel his heart grow heavy when you started sobbing. He felt utterly guilty and a fault for you have such a sad reaction.
However, not only did he feel guilty, he also felt angered. The simple fact that you were showing such emotions to another angered him to no stop. He wanted to grab you away and hug you himself. He wanted to feel your tears get soaked up into his shirt. He wanted to comfort you and say things that would make you smile. The adeptus could help but let a murderous aura out as he saw you with Aether.
But, it was his fault and he knew better than to interrupt especially since you couldn't seem to remember him.
When you had touched him, it had reminded him of the same touch that you had given him in the past. You were all too familiar to the one that he had loved in the past that it couldn't just be a coincidence. It just had to be you. The both of you had the same wonderful name that he would never get tired of. The both of you looked exactly the same.
"Is this a curse or is it a gift," Xiao mumbled under his breath. "To think I would be able to see you again yet you can't remember me. I don't know if I'm happy or sad. I don't know anything when it comes to you, y/n. You make me completely crazy, I hate it. I love you so much."
