Chapter Seventeen

Xiao paced back and forth in Jean's office which was based in the Knights of Favonious Headquarters. Jean, Lisa, and Aether watched the boy with worry.

It was unlike him to act this paranoid, much less emotion driven. You could see the eye bags under his darkened amber eyes that showed his worry and paranoia. Its been a day since you had been last kidnapped by the abyss herald and since then, Xiao had been abnormally restless.

"We have to do something," Xiao growled as he headed towards the door. "Its useless just sitting here doing nothing. Who knows what y/n could be going through."

"Without any information on what we are dealing with much less where she was taken, going out to search for her in all of Teyvat would be just as useless as us waiting here. We wouldn't get anywhere is we randomly searched." Jean, being the brains of the operation, explained. "We are trying our best to get any information but we need time."

"Jean's right Xiao," Aether laid on the wall behind him. "We need more information. You of all people should know that."

Aether was in fact right. Xiao was an experienced fighter who fought even in the Archon War. It was an undeniable fact that going into a battle without knowing your enemy was like a death sentence that you were giving yourself.

Even that though couldn't stop Xiao from wanting to run all across Teyvat in hopes of finding you. You were his precious y/n and he couldn't bare it of anything happened to you.

"Explain what happened to y/n," a deep voice suddenly spoke as the door to Jean's office got slammed open.

Standing there was none other than Diluc, the owner of Dawn Winery. His face had a look of despise and disappointment when he saw everyone standing in Jean's office.

"S-sir Diluc," a knight nervously mumbled. "Grand M-master Jean said that she doesn't want anyone entering her office."

"Do you think I care," Diluc glared at the nervous wreck of a knight before muttering his infamous line. "The Knights of Favonious always so inefficient."

"Its fine," Jean told the knight who was starting to sweat when he saw all the higher-ups in the room. "You may take your leave."

"V-very well," the knight bowed before rushing out of the very tense room.

"Explain," Diluc crossed his arms.

"She was kidnapped," Jean stared at her desk not wanting to meet the eyes of the man that despised the Knights of Favonious.

"I'll join in her rescue," Diluc sighed knowing that it would be pointless to lose his cool especially at this time. "I owe her for helping me. This is the least I can do."

"Thank you Diluc," Jean gave a small smile to thank the red head.

Diluc looked at Xiao who had now gone quiet. The adeptus returned a quick look of genuine thanks when he noticed Diluc's gaze on him before looking back down at the floor. He knew that he needed all the help he needed to save you, even if it was from an enemy.
