Chapter Five

"You can close your eyes to things you don't want to see but,
you can't close your heart to things
you don't want to feel."

"Y/n," Paimon cheered. "What do you want to eat when we go to Wanmin restaurant?"

"I'm thinking of maybe having some Jade Parcels if they have some," you told your friend.

Earlier, the three of you had started making your way towards Liyue Harbor after your unexpected crying fit. Aether had consoled you and comforted you though, after that, you couldn't help but feel self-conscious. Even though he had said it was fine, you still felt ashamed for acting that way. You had no idea what had gotten over you. The moment that the boy Xiao had left, you couldn't help but feel a hole in your heart.

"What are you going to order?" Paimon asked Aether.

"I don't know," Aether sighed. "Maybe something new that Xiangling concocted."

"Oh," Paimon nodded in agreement.

"Who's Xiangling?" You asked, curious as to who this person that Aether and Paimon were talking about.

"She's the daughter of Chef Mao of Wanmin restaurant," Aether explained. "We met her a while ago to help her make a new dish. Ever since then, we've been trying out the new dishes that she makes."

"Seems interesting. Maybe I'll give it a try too."

The three of you continued through Liyue Harbor until you finally made it to the Wanmin restaurant that Aether and Paimon had been talking about. Sadly, Xiangling was out so you weren't able to try out the experimental dishes that your two friends had been talking about. Instead, the three of you had ordered some Jueyun Chili Chicken and Golden Shrimp Balls.

The food that Paimon had suggested to you was definitely delicious and you had enjoyed them very much. During the time that you ate, the three of you had long conversations and grew even closer to be able to call yourselves best friends despite only meeting a few hours ago. The three of you clicked well together and had a friendship that many would desire.

"You really should join us on adventures y/n," Paimon said. "It would be super fun and we would have someone to heal Aether whenever he would get injured."

Aether agreed as he felt his cheeks heat up, "I wouldn't mind you joining us. In fact, it would be awesome if you were to join us."

"Sure!" You agreed since you didn't actually have anywhere to go.

"Wait seriously?" Paimon exclaimed as she flew right in front of you. "You're willing to join us?"

"Mhm," you nodded. "I don't really have anywhere else or anything else to do so adventuring with you would be a nice change."

"That's great!" Aether grinned. "I look forward to adventuring with you."

After a while longer of chatting, the three of you headed towards Katheryne, the receptionist at Liyue's Adventure Guild.

"Welcome to the Liyue Branch of the Adventurer's Guild. Ad astra abyossque!" The maid-like receptionist said as you and the other two made your way to where she stood.
