Sixx was walking along the road now for good ten minutes. In all truth he really didn't know what he was looking for, or what he hoped to achieve by walking aimlessly along the road. He knew that he wanted to find Sonya and Flannery and bring them back here where it was safe, but more importantly away from Greg. He still didn't know why he didn't like Greg, the guy hadn't really done anything to deserve it but something in Sixx's gut was telling him that Greg just couldn't be trusted.
Maybe it just had to do with the fact that he'd seen the way Sonya looked at him every no and then, add that along with him seeing her arm wrapped around Greg's waist it wasn't a great thing. It's not that he was jealous of Greg its just that Sonya was his little sister. Granted he was adopted that didn't change the fact that he was still very protective of her. Ever since he was little Ryan was always telling him that it was his job to protect Sonya because Ryan might not always be around. So for the past 15 years Sixx has been the best brother that he could possibly be, even though they got into a lot of fights and he said a lot of things out of anger, he always came back around and was the big brother that Sonya admitted she'd always wanted.
A car drove by and Sixx looked up when he heard the car's brakes screech as it came to a stop. He turned around though once it started to back up until it was right in front of him. It was a small little Toyota with tinted windows on either side so Sixx couldn't see who was in it. There was a brief moment when Sixx was tempted to hop in the car along with whoever this was even though he knew that's probably not why they were here. He was about to start walking away when the window was rolled down and Sixx was surprised to see Prof. Brooks poke her head out.
"Eric?" She said looking at him with a questioning expression on her face. "What're you doing this far from home?"
"Um- I uh... I'm looking for Sonya," Sixx stammered still not entirely sure what to say since she was the last person that he expected to see. "Wha- what are you doing out here?"
"I was on my way to go talk to Ryan actually."
"What about?" He asked. "Cause he's out of town on business."
"About college." She said and jerked her head to the side. "You want a ride somewhere?"
"Um, wanna give me a ride to a pay phone?" Sixx asked being sure to avoid any questions about the mansion.
"Sure hop in."
Sixx got in the car and Prof. Brooks turned the car fully around before speeding off in the opposite direction of the mansion. Sixx was quiet the entire time they drove, in all honesty he'd completely forgotten about him talking to Brooks about going to college somewhere and having a normal life. He'd grown sick of this life of hunting down Devils for a number of years now and wanted to go to college and become a doctor. It'd been his dream for years to be a doctor but it became apparent that as long as he was involved in this Devil business that he'd never get a chance to do it. So he took it upon himself to talk to Prof. Brooks to help him with college.
He hadn't told Ryan about it since Sixx saw no real reason to tell him about his life, and he had this little hope that maybe Sonya would follow his lead and leave Enigma to become a teacher like she'd always wanted. Sixx's mind went back to when he was 15 and Sonya was 14, that was when she told him about how much she liked tutoring the younger kids and wanted to be a teacher. She truly could've too, she was smart enough always got straight A's and was great with kids. But he knew that Sonya would never be able to tell her father that she wanted to chase after her own dreams over his. But if Sixx left than maybe that'd give her just the push she needed to get out of Enigma and chase her own dreams.
One thing that Sixx never really understood was why in the world Ryan got into hunting Devils, or how he even found out about them in the first place. Ryan grew up not having to do a single thing for himself and was set to inheret three multi-billion dollar companies, and yet he chose to fight Devils for a living and used the money he got from the companies to help pay for anything he needed to do that. He had no idea why and he knew that Sonya never knew either, and everytime the subject was brought up he simply brushed the question off. Maybe that's why Sixx doesn't want to continue this, because he has no reason to do it other than the fact that he wants to protect Sonya. But why does it have to be them who has to protect these people? What kind of person would force their own daughter into this kind of life, Sixx wondered and felt his hands ball up into fists. He loved Sonya too much to be see her life get destroyed by something she really doesn't even want to do. And as her big brother he felt it his responsibility to show her that she didn't have to stay in this life and that she could be free of it to live her own life.
