Chapter 2

Remington's POV:
Beep-Beep-Beep. Ugh, I roll over to turn off my alarm. I hate Mondays. I dramatically toss the comforter off of me and climb out of bed. I slip into my very small closet and take out my outfit. Today I chose my burgundy scrubs. I lay the scrubs on my un-made bed and go to the bathroom.

I grab a towel out of the cabinet and hang on the hook and turn on the shower. I get in and wash my hair and body and quickly shave my legs. I hop out and brush my teeth.

I hear the door radically bang against the wall and Venus strolls inside.

"You couldn't have knocked," I asked with a scoff.

"You were taking to long and I have to pee," she said.

I rolled my eyes at her. She is very bitchy in the mornings. She strolled over beside me and sat on the toilet. "Seriously? Have you no decency," I asked.

"Nothing you haven't already seen anyway."

Venus finished with her business and got off the toilet and left. That girl will be the death of me. I finished brushing my teeth and I washed my face and walked back to my room. When I walked in I grabbed my hair dryer and dried my hair and stuck it in some dutch braids out of my face. I sat down at my vanity still in my towel and applied a little makeup. Just some concealer, eyebrow tint, mascara, and lip balm. I looked at the time on the clock and it read 7:45. I'm going to be late.

I quickly walked over and stuck on some undergarments and put my scrubs on, whisked my apple watch off the charger and secured it to my wrist, and grabbed my phone and stuck it in my pocket. I walked out the door in a rush and grabbed my ID and clipped it to the breast pocket on my scrub top. I grabbed a banana and made my way to the door and slipped on my tennis shoes. I made my way out the door at 7:54. I have 15 minutes to get to work and its a 25 minute walk.

I finally made it to work with 3 minutes to spare. I'd be lying if I said I didn't run. Macy, my boss, can be a real bitch. I can't afford to lose this job.

"Good morning," I said to Claire. Claire is my buddy. We have worked together for almost a year. She is a really good friend.

"Hi! Good morning," she replied. I gave her a quick smile and made my way to the back of the building. I grabbed my banana and pealed it and took a bite. So good. I grabbed a water bottle from the small fridge and drank it while eating my banana.

When I finished my banana and water, I made my way to the front of the building where Claire was. She was typing on the computer. I was the one who saw all of the animals while she took appointments and checked everyone out when finished.

"You have an appointment with Mr. Clark in 15 minutes with a female german shepherd for flea shots. She is 19 weeks old," Claire informed me.

"Yes. Okay, I'm going to go get ready. I'll be back," I replied.

I went to one of the patient rooms and got a Zycortal shot out and placed the injection on a tray. I walked back into the reception room and an older man was at the front desk talking to Claire.

"Mr. Clark, this is Ms. Taylor. She will take very good care of Daisy. You can wait here or you can go back with her; whatever you feel comfortable with," Claire explained to Mr. Clark.

"I will wait here," he replied.

Mr. Clark passed me Daisy's leash. "Thankyou! It should only take me 5 minutes," I said.

"Okay, no problem. Take all the time you need," he responded.

With a smile, I turned and walked down the hall with Daisy in tow to room number 2.

I picked Daisy up and sat her on the table. "You are so cute sweetheart. You are so adorable."

I grabbed the injection and stuck it into Daisy's neck. She yelped and I removed it and gently pet her ears. She closed her eyes while I did so. After I was done petting her, I grabbed a doggy biscuit out of the jar on the table and gave to her. She ate it very fast; I don't even know if she chewed. I laughed softly and grabbed my paper and wrote down the shot information and wrote down the date for the next shot she will need.

I picked Daisy off the table and sat her on the floor and walked her back to the waiting room. Mr. Clark stood up and asked how everything went and I explained the date for her next vaccine and Claire made an appointment for her into the computer.

Claire explained that I had 3 more patients to see. One was Otis, a Norwegian forest cat, my favorite cat and favorite patient. The other two were Riley; the Rottweiler and Steve; the pug.

After a long day with my animals and 7 hours later, it was finally time to go home. I sterilized all the rooms I had used and finished cleaning up. Claire had left 30 minutes ago and Macy told me it was my turn to close up.

I finished cleaning and straightening up for tomorrow and went to the back to get my stuff. I checked my phone and noticed a few notifications from Venus.

Venus👽: I'm going out tonight with that guy I told you about so don't wait up. We are going to Manetta's. Love you babe😘

Me: Okay, be careful! Love you too!

I put my phone away and turned off the lights and quickly made my way to the front of the building so I could leave. I grabbed a hold of the handle and before I could pull it open it flew inward and knocked me back and I fell on my ass.

"Get up now. Come on," a man said and grabbed my arm and jerked me up to my feet.

I looked and two men carried another man in. There was blood all over them. Two other men walked in after them. I didn't think. I just immediately ran over to the bleeding man whom they laid onto the floor. He was very handsome. He had black hair and some scruff on his face, a very strong jaw line that could cut paper, perfect cheek bones, and plump lips. He had his eyes closed and I quickly stuck my fingers on his neck to feel for a pulse. I found it but it was weak.

"I can help him. Let me help," I said.

"Okay. Yes, please help him," the man replied.
