Chapter 17

Emiliano's POV:
It has been 3 days since anyone has heard from Remi. I fucked up. She was starting to trust me and I ruined that opportunity. Venus is upset as well. Venus didn't have a choice. She had to keep being in the mafia a secret if she wanted to keep Remi safe. If she said anything to Remi, she would of had to join. A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts...

A second later the door opened and revealed Venus, Gio, Lisa, Kingston, Mariano, Francesco, mom and dad.

"We have to find her Emilio," Venus spoke. Remi is her best friend so I can understand her need to locate her. I want to find her to tell her how sorry I am for lying.

"I tracked the chip you had me put into her phone. The last known location was Lisa's penthouse," Kingston said.

Anger coursed through my veins. She lied to me. I asked her is she knew where Remi was and she said she didn't see her. All of us turned our heads to look at Lisa. I got off my chair and made my way to stand in front of her.

"You told me you didn't know where she is," I seethed.

"And I don't. I gave her a place to stay at my apartment for a night and then she left. I do not know where Remi is," she stated with a calm voice.

"Lisa, do not lie to me. I called you yesterday and asked you if you saw her. You fucking said no," I shouted.

"She told me not to tell you. I understand Venus's side because she couldn't tell Remi but you. You could have told her. You told her about the mafia even existing but you didn't tell her this. Remi got the hell away from here," she yelled as she pointed her index finger at me.

"So you know where she is," Venus asked.

"Yes. And I am not telling you. She needs time to think about this shit. Leave her alone," Lisa said before turning around and walking towards the door. Before she could exit, Venus grabbed her arm and pushed her against the door and held her there.

"Do you have any idea what you have done," Venus yelled.

"Her father is still fucking alive. If he finds her he will kill her," she screamed.

A shocked expression took over Lisa's face. Everyone else seemed to be confused as well.

"What do you mean her father will kill her," my mother spoke up.

Venus held Lisa there for a few more moments before letting her go and stepping back to face my mother.

"Remi's father abused her. He is the one who killed her mother. That is all I'm going to say because it isn't my story to tell," Venus spoke.

"Do you know his name," Lisa asked.

"No. He had an alias. His supposed name was Elijah McKay. I couldn't find his real name. She doesn't have any pictures of him. She can't even visit her mother's grave because everyone thinks she's dead. If she goes back there it will put her through hell," Venus spoke.

Everyone had shocked looks on their faces. Lisa needs to tell us where she is so we can make sure she is safe.

"You guys don't understand what she went through-" Venus's voice cracked and a tear rolled down her cheek. I have never seen Venus cry before.

"Her father put her through hell. If he finds her, he won't kill her immediately. He will torture her till she begs him to kill her. He knows Remi's breaking point and he will push past that. She is delicate and she cannot be found by him," she said softly.

She went over to Lisa and put both her hands on her shoulders. "Lisa, I am begging you. Tell me where she is. Please," she cried.

Lisa had a worried look plastered on her face. We all did. None of us has ever seen Venus cry so we know that it is serious.

"I promised Remi I wouldn't tell. She is safe. I promise you that. She needs time Venus," she said.

Venus nodded and leaned in to kiss Lisa. Lisa and Venus have been together for a few months now. The people in this room are the only ones who know. In the mafia, gay relationships is not supported. If anyone found out and talked about it, I could easily shut it down because I am king but we rather not go to that. I walked over to the bar and poured myself a drink. I grabbed my drink and walked back over and sat at my desk.

"You're sure she is safe," I asked.

Miele could take all the time she needed to understand why we did what we did. I lied for a reason. I was going to sit her down and tell her eventually but that didn't go as planned.

"Yes. She is safe," Lisa replied. She had her arms around Venus's waist hugging her.

"Okay. Can you tell us where the fuck she is Lisa? We won't go after her," Venus said; pulling away from Lisa's embrace.

Lisa shook her head no. "I told her I wouldn't say. She said she needs some time. She will come back when she is ready," Lisa replied.

Venus walked to the door and threw it open and stormed out with Lisa hot on her trail. Kingston left a few seconds after they did. Gio, Mariano and Francesco were on the couch having a conversation and mother and father were silently sitting in the chairs in front of me.

"Your mother and I were going to head back to Italy to tonight son," my father spoke up.

I looked up and nodded at them. They left a few moments after that. I was busy thinking about Remi when loud bickering interrupted my thoughts...

"I'm just saying. Lana Rhodes is so much better than Mia Khalifa," Francesco said. What the fuck?

"No dumbass. Mia is way better," Mariano argued.

Gio just sat there shaking his head at them. Who the hell are they talking about. As if sensing my confusion, Gio walked over,

"They are arguing about which pornstar is better."

"Why?"

"I have not fucking idea."

After a few more seconds of listening to them, my voice boomed through the office.

"Both of you get the fuck out. I have work to do and rather not listen to your discussion about pornstars," I spoke.

Both of my brother sighed before getting up and leaving. I could hear them arguing down the hallway. Gesù Cristo. Those bastards. Gio sat down in the chair in front of me and pulled his phone out. I looked back down at the papers on my desk and started signing some shit. After hearing multiple dings from Gio's cellphone, I began to get irritated.

"Who are you texting," I asked him.

"Adira. She said she misses us and hopes to see us soon. She said and I quote, 'I have to interview another want-to-be bitch today and don't have very high hopes. I'm pissed off.' She also said to tell Emilio to call me," he said.

"Sounds just like Adira," I chuckled.

"Feel bad for the poor soul who is going to meet her today," Gio said.

I scoffed. They have no idea. Shortly after that, Gio left as well and I was left alone with my work.

Adira is like a sister to me. She had a bad past like Remi. I saved her and gave her a life in the mafia. She went on to train and became one of my best assassins. She left after she turned 22 and started her modeling company and I couldn't be more proud of her.

After 3 more hours of working, I finally finished and went to my room to sleep. It was 11:30 at night and I was tired. I took a quick shower and hopped into bed. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was my beautiful Miele.
