-Oscar POV 1888-
Oscar Pennington was a relatively happy seven year old kid. He had a loving family, a roof over his head, food on the table, and clean clothes to wear every day. His father had a good job working for the trolley company, his mother picked up sewing jobs here and there and took very good care of him and his siblings, and he had a brother and a sister whom he loved very much. He was sometimes jealous of the bond that Morris and Mary had, but kept reminding himself that they were twins, so of course they would be closer.
Oscar loved day-to-day life. He loved waking up in the morning to his mother gently shaking him, and his brother curled up next to him.
He loved his mother's delicious breakfasts. She always said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day.
He loved going to school, though he didn't like leaving his brother and sister for a while every day.
He loved coming back home to his siblings playing together, and sometimes he would join them.
He loved the family suppers they would have, with his father telling them about his day, and cracking jokes at him and Morris. He would sometimes even bring home bits of hard candy for them.
He loved staying up, curled on his father's lap with his brother, listening to him read them a story at night.
But most of all, Oscar loved when his father carried him to bed, with his mother following behind with Morris, and laid him down and tucked them both in. Morris, whether he was awake or asleep, would move closer to him, and Oscar would put his arms around his little brother and they would fall asleep like that. Their parents would sometimes sneak in after the brothers fell asleep and watch their sons cuddle. They thought it was the cutest thing.
So it was only natural for Oscar not to like change much. He and his brother were alike in a great many ways, but that was something that set them apart. Oscar hated change, and Morris loved it.
Oscar took joy in daily routine, while Morris, like his twin, was always excited about what the future would bring.
But they NEVER let that get in the way of their bond. They were as tight as two brothers could be, and together with Mary, they were always inseparable.
