When Acantha heard the fight start, she watched closely for what Matrona was going to do. The taller woman seemed to circle as if about to go from the side. She felt bad. Such a coward of a girl didn't know what she was getting herself into. "I'll make this quick so you can go home to your mother," Matrona said and ran at her, not exactly wanting to use her power on such a weak simple creature. Acantha dodged the attack, and as if coming from nowhere, a burst of fire emerged between the two girls. This caught everyone off guard, more specifically Matrona. "Huh?!" She exclaimed and almost fell over from her heeled shoes but gained her balance. Acantha stood on the other side of the wall of fire with small bursts of flame seeming to flow off her hand.Matrona decided this Artemis person wasn't so weak. She used her power to control the ground to launch Acantha into the air using a pillar to bring her up then suddenly make it disappear. Acantha jumped out of the way and used her power to send a trail of fire right at Matrona. The brunette woman didn't want all her clothes to burn off and jumped to the side. She barely even saw Acantha rush at her to try and kick the taller woman out of the ring. Matrona deflected the attack by using her arm to deflect, causing Acantha's attack to fail. Due to both of the ladies' strengths, there was a force of air from the impact. Unfortunately for the taller woman, her hat flew right off with the gust of air.
"What the hell?!! Diane!" King cried out. This girl "Diane" looked at the fairy boy and put a finger over her lips before causing the ground to raise and punt her opponent across the ring. Acantha skidded across the hot rocky surface and hissed in pain. She stood up and hid her pained expression with the same blank gaze she used when in fear. The small ginger girl stood up and put her hand up, launching multiple small fireballs to surround Diane like a cage.
Meliodas was heavily intrigued by the fight. This fairy-appearing girl fighting on a muggy day with no shoes on, and handling fire without getting burnt. This was a strange discovery indeed. He had many questions. The fireballs all went to speed at Diane, but she summoned rock golems to deflect the attack. "I have to be more careful since she handles fire. I don't need anyone but the captain seeing me nude." She said to herself and summoned her prized golems to attack Acantha.
Acantha blocked the punches sent to her by these walking boulders and in return, sent a wall of fire at Diane. The uniform-wearing woman backed away until she was stuck at the edge. Meanwhile, Acantha punched the rocky golems until they broke apart, leaving her knuckles raw and bloody. Her pale hands littered with dirt now had multiple scrapes and injuries to them. She could only hope they didn't get infected.
Diane was feeling troubled. She had two options, let herself fall out of the arena or risk burning her clothes to keep fighting. "Oh well." She said and got an idea, using the ground to her advantage. She made the ground beneath her rise until it was above the short firewall. Diane jumped down and ran to Acantha, sending a strike into her stomach. Acantha stumbled back until she was stable. The green-eyed nymph noticed she was getting way too close to the edge and circled before running at Diane from the side and attempting another kick, the leg she was using having flames flow from it.
This kick did land, and it sent Diane right out of the ring and into King, the fairy boy who seemed to be the cushion to her fall. "And the winner of round one is Artemis!!!" Love Helm yelled out. Diane stood up and rubbed her back which now showed her skin. due to the section of her top burning. "Dammit... Elizabeth's going to be upset." She whined. Acantha, with trembling hands and shaky legs, got down so the next fight could start.
The nymph's eyes wandered to see Eryx staring her down. She went to approach him, but he seemed to only step back as if the two of them were the same end of a magnet. About what though was the real question. Turns out Eryx was upset by how Acantha was careless enough to show her face and not just forfeit. If he were seen with her, he'd be arrested. 'I'm not risking my freedom for that...' He thought to himself and walked away, leaving a silent Acantha as she looked down at her hands.
