Chapter 22

Alphys let out a sigh. A deep, annoyed sigh. I could just tell being nice was killing her. However, with an obviously forced smile, she turned to me and handed me a paper.

"Congrats, or whatever, I guess. You're having a small... tiny... human brat." She said.

Last time, I wasn't that happy about carrying Nightmare's child, but this time? I'm over joyed. I return Alphys's forced smile with a genuine one of mine.

"Thank you, Alphys." I said. She only waved her clawed hand. I slid off the table. "I'll get out of your way and allow you to return to your work. Ummm... Thank you... Again." I said and walked to the door. However, I jumped back when I heard a sudden crash. Alphys heard it too. With a growl, she fling the door open to yell at who was disrupting her work.

"What the hell is going on here?!" She yelled. Almost immediately, she ducked. I did, too, to dodge the flying chair. "What the HELL is going on?!" She yelled again.

"Where is she?" A deep voice asked. I knew who it was. I looked over Alphys and I sighed. There, with Violet in his arms, stood Nightmare. He was holding Red against the wall with an appendage.

"I ain't telling you anything, ya goopy b-word! Gah!" Red yelled out when Nightmare tightened his grip.

"Incorrect answer." Nightmare said. "You're useless to me. That means I get to kill you."

"Nightmare." I said. He froze and turned his head in my direction. His grip on Red loosened and Red fell. Then Nightmare was by my side, pulling me into a hug. A bit of a tight one. "C-careful, love. I-I'm a bit fragile... at the moment."

"Fragile? How fragile? They didn't hurt you... did they?" He asked with a growl, sending a deadly glare towards Red.

"No no no no. I'm not hurt. This isnt anything bad." I say. Then I felt a sudden small pressure in my stomach. I groan as I tighten my grip on Nightmare's arm. Nightmare freaks.

"What? What's wrong?!"

"No no. Its okay." I say. Then I extended my hand. "I have something very important to tell you. But You must give me your hand first." I said. He gives me his hand while giving me a completely puzzled look. I don't speak a word as I gently place his hand on my belly.

He then tilts his head in even more confusion. "What are you-?" He flinched when he felt it. A kick. Oh... how I could see the question marks around his head. "Wh-Wha... What was...?"

"It was a kick." I say. His eye blinked a few times.

"Wha-what? Kick? What?"

"I'm pregnant." I say. He completley freezes.

"You- you're... you're pregnant?" He asked. I nodded. Then Nightmare moves his gaze down back to my stomach. Then he did something I never expected him to do. Nightmare had gotten down on his knees and settled the side of his head on my belly, listening to the baby's heartbeat.

I stiffles a laugh. "Oh? What's this? The malicious and the big bad Nightmare on his knees? For a woman? Are you feeling alright?" I asked teasingly.

"Quiet." He said in that warning voice. Which only made me laugh more.

We stood like that for a few more quiet moments until the door was flung open. Nightmare didn't move a muscle. I nearly look up to see the stars standing in the door way, weapons ready. They looked around a bit before they noticed me. They saw Nightmare.

They were about to lunge but then Dream stood straight.       "(Y/N)? Brother? What is going on here?" He asked.

"Whoa! This is a rare sight! Nightmare? On his knees? Is this even your brother, Dream?" Ink asked.

"AND IT DOESN'T SEEM HE'S HURTING (Y/N)... MORE LIKE HUGGINH HER. WHO KNEW NIGHTMARE WAS CAPABLE OF SUCH AN ACT! MWEH HEH HEH!" Blue yelled.

A growl erupted from Nightmare. "Quiet! All of you!" He said. His grip on me tightened. I bet he couldn't listen to the baby with all this noise. And that's why he's angry.

"Its okay, Dream. Don't worry. Nightmare isn't hurting me. He wouldn't. Besides. The reason he's so angry is because he cant hear the baby." I said.

The Stars freeze. "'Baby'?" Dream asked.

"Wait... are you... you're not... are you?" Ink asked. I laughed at his response.

"I'm gonna be a big sister!!" Violet screamed. Blue's eyelights turned to stars as he sucked in an excited gasp.

"YOU'RE PREGNANT AGAIN?! OOH! WHAT EXCITING NEWS!! WHAT'S IT GONNA BE THIS TIME?! A BOY? ANOTHER GIRL? OOOOHHH OH THIS IS EXCITING!!" Blue said. Like last time, Ink and Dream looked concerned. But I only returned their concerned glances with a warm smile.

"Ink? Dream? Its okay. I'm happy this time. And this time, I will share this process with Nightmare. He isn't a threat and is actually very protective over me. And, as you can see, he's just as excited as me about this baby. He's not going to let me go."

Dream still looked unsure but eventually the concern faded away. "Of course. My brother will do everything he can to keep you and Violet safe. Including this new little one. His love for you is obvious. I trust my brother. He'll take care of you. I just hope we'll be able to visit without a fight." Dream said.

"Of course you can! And I'll assure you, there will.be no fight. Right, love?" I asked Nightmare. He said nothing as he stood and lifted me into his arms. He still said nothing as he opened a portal.

"Come Violet." He said.

"Coming Daddy! Bye uncle stars!" She said and followed Nightmare through the portal.
