Zane's Pov:

"Let me take you out!"

"On a date or with a gun?"

"That's not what I meant-"

"Surprise me."

If you asked me why I said this, or even thought to say this, I couldn't answer you. I guess the situation was just perfect and messing with Travis for revenge seemed like such a great idea at the time.

I heard him shout something, but I never quite caught it. I didn't care to waste my breathe ask what he had said again.

Remember how I said, "it seemed like a good idea at the time?" well, it seemed just swell that night, but the next day it all backfired when the door bell rang throughout the house early the next morning.

Wearing gray plaid sweat pants and a white tank top, no other than the infamous "Little Laurence" came from his room, rubbing his eyes, opened the door.

"Travis?" he grumbled, still half asleep.

I watch from the inside balcony as Travis pushes his way past Laurence, a small, white rose that looks like he got it from someone's front lawn, stuck In his hand.

He glares at me from where he stands, as if expecting me to come down. I shake my head, chuckling silently as I mouth the word, 'no.' Hoping that he caught the head movements because my mask was covering the bottom half of my face.

He let's out a small frustated growl, before shouting, "Did you forget our date!?"

I blink a few times before remembering the events from the previous night.

May I remind you, it's like 7:29 am in the the morning, I should be asleep right now.

Okay, so no other than Travis Valkrum was standing in my living room, expecting me to go on a date with him, while my brother's secret lover stares at the scene in what seems like great confusion clouding his sleepy gaze.

I have to admit I'm shocked myself, I didn't expect him to take it literally-we haven't talked in like a few years, and when we actually did, it was against our, or my will.

Even then, this is Travis of all people we're talking about, why am I surprised?

"Well?" He practically purrs, dragging me from my thoughts, "Is my prince coming downstairs or not?"

I growl, "Travis-just no."

"But Zane-"

The slam of my door seemed to have shut him up. I hear what sounds like a not even half-awake Garroth enter the scene, ask what's going on, before heading back to his Garroth-Cave.

I leap at my bed face first, burying myself into the mounds of pillows and blankets, wishing for sleep to overcome me again.

Travis's Pov:

Okay yeah, maybe just maybe this was a terrible idea.

You knew he was gonna react this way Travis, you just made a fool of yourself for nothing! I smile awkwardly to Laurence, before practicing stuttering, "I'm just gonna go.."

I leave the house and sigh, I know why he's avoiding me, I'm honestly surprised he's communicated with me as much as he has.

I stand there, twisting the small rose in between my finger, when the flashbacks start to linger at the edge of my brain.

Flashback

I had just gotten my lunch from the Cafeteria on one of those styrofoam plate holders that have those mini compartments.
