Nightmares

I tossed and turned but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't sleep. The aptitude test was one week away. This had been happening every night for the past month. Each time it ended in the same nightmare.
I was walking down a hallway in an unfamiliar building, and it was so quiet I could hear my footsteps echo off the walls and my heart beating out of my chest. The only light was barely shining through the nearly opaque floor-length window. Suddenly an unrecognizable girl - about my age - jumped out at me, gun in hand, shouting, "YOU DO NOT FIT INTO A CATEGORY! WE CANNOT CONTROL YOU! YOU ARE A THREAT TO US ALL!" I tried to scream but my throat was swollen shut. I tried to run but my legs wouldn't cooperate. All I could do was stare at the woman in horror as she pulled the trigger.

I woke up at the sound of the gunshot, screaming and coated in sweat.

The light turned on and I groaned, squeezing my eyes shut.

"Anastasia? You ok?" My twin sister, Arabella sounded concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine Bella," I sighed, still shaking. "I just had a bad dream."

"Ok," she said uncertainly, reluctantly turning off the light and climbing back into bed.

I sighed, thinking about what that girl said, as I did every night. No matter how hard I thought about it, I couldn't figure out what she meant. I didn't tell Arabella because I had the oddest feeling that if I told anyone it would cost me my life.
